I like it
Decided to pick up an extra grinder for masonry use. I originally got the GWS8-45 and wasn't happy with it, as it seemed to run a tad too hot amongst a few other things. I was worried at first this one would have too fat a grip, but it's about perfect. While it is a bit bigger than the GWS8-45 in the grip area, it seems to be easier to hold due to the shape and textures. I also like how this one is normal length and feels more balanced than the GWS8-45. It's also 8.5 amp which is a plus. The function of it is about typical of an angle grinder, I have no complaints so far. I've used it outside in high temperatures with moderate use and heat wasn't an issue, but the gear box does get hot; which seems typical of these Bosch grinders due to how they are setup inside. The spindle spins true and no abnormal vibrations with or without a new diamond blade. I find unlike the switch on the GWS8-45 (which seems to be easier to accidently set off even though it appears to be a thicker in size switch), only when gripping up very high, this grinder doesn't have that issue. The only con I can come up with is I wish the bottom cover/guard mount that seals the spindle, gears, etc.. inside, fit tighter around the screws or just in general sealed better. I notice that grease can slightly seep out over time or as it gets hotter. Not sure what the reasoning is behind that but I doubt it's too big of an issue. Overall I am pleased so far with the grinder and it performs as expected.

Nothing beats Bosch
We use Bosch for all of our grinding needs. We are an Historic Masonry repair company and use Bosch Grinders and Vacuum cleaners to extract the dust we create. They are rugged, reliable and longer lasting than any other brand.

Dust Collection Accessories
I purchased this for a master bathroom tile project... I have not had any issues with it. My only frustration was that Bosch chose not to create any dust collection attachments for this specific model-- and for that reason I give it 4 stars. BUT Good News... through trial and error, I finally found dust collection attachments that work with this angle grinder without modification. The following two Makita products fit this Bosch GWS9-45 4-1/2" Small Angle Grinder without any modifications: (1) Makita 196846-1 Dust Extracting Tuck Point Guard, 5" https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0042CD9TG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 EDIT: This works like a charm! ZERO dust and the plunge cut & depth control adjustments are awesome. Worth the money if you screw up a DIY tile job (my first time) and need to replace a tile set too low. (2) Makita 195236-5 4-1/2-Inch - 5-Inch Dust Shroud https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004F5JCG4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Note: On the surface grinding Dust Shroud... you need to purchase a 4-inch Cup Wheel to use with it. Anything larger will extend beyond the removable section (for grinding flush against a vertical wall, baseboard, etc.) and may extend beyond the shroud height-wise as well (The Bosch 5" cup wheel I first purchased failed on both counts). With these Makita attachments I'm satisfied with the GWS9-45. Shame on Bosch for not making attachments for this product.

these things are the best
I have been buying these Bosch grinders for years. They used to be really cheap, but now not so much. They have no electronic gremlins to slow down and limit power. They are compact and powerful. Buy at least six and put a different tool on each, cup brush, stringer brush, cylindrical grinding stone wheel, grinding wheel, cut off wheel, sanding pad, flap wheel, etc. You save time by not changing wheels. Buy premium 4 1/2" zirconium wheels and be really productive. Depending on how you abuse them they will get hot, just blow them out with compressed air and keep on going. We have 6" Metabo, Makita, Milwaukee, and Bosch which I almost never use as the 6" grinders are too bulky and electronically limit productivity when you push them the exception being 6" cut off wheels which I wear down to 4 1/2" and use up the rest of their life on the small Bosch grinder.

I like the size
I like the size, weight and power of this grinder but I have a couple serious of concerns. The gear case on this grinder heats up quicker and gets hotter than any of my other angle grinders. It doesn't take long for the gear case to get so hot that the tool can't be operated without having gloves on. I am very concerned that all this heat is going to greatly shorten the life of this grinder. The other thing I don't like and I almost can't believe is that Bosch chose to use PLASTIC for the bottom of the gear case which holds the large main arbor bearing. I own several angle grinders including a couple cheap and essentially throw away grinders and none of them heat up this quickly or use plastic for any part of the gear case. Only time will tell if this machine will indeed die an early death but every time I use it I am bothered by the heat this thing produces and by just knowing that the wheel arbor bearing is mounted in plastic.

Great feel when its in your hand
The first grinder was defective out of the box, Amazon sent a new one and we returned the defective unit. The second grinder has ran and performed perfectly. Great feel when its in your hand.

Me sorprendió lo ligera que es está herramienta, tengo 2 de motor más pequeño y están más pesadas, lo único que no me gustó es el gatillo me parece sumamente frágil
