The reason for needing it was because I removed the UMD drive from my PSP to add a huge smartphone battery, and needed a board to solder in to keep the battery from overcharging. This was the cheapest unit I could find, and it has been working great! 5 stars for my application! Review: Don't do it! - The average life on this battery is 2 hours, which would have been fine except it only lasted 30 minutes and would constantly lose connection to the terminals. I got it, left it charging overnight and every thing seemed fine. When I loaded it up the next day, it appeared as though my PSP was brought back to life, but as soon as I loaded a UMD, the screen would drop out. It wasn't until I plugged it in that I realized that the cause was the battery and not my firmware.

cheap replacment
I thought I had fried my psp and here the battery was fried. I got this to replace the one in my psp from leaving it on the charger to long too often. it comes loose in my psp so i put a folded up paper in it and works like a charm.

pretty crap battery, does the job
I bought this, knowing that it was cheap Chinese crap. I had a used psp-1001 that I got for free. I didn't even know if it worked until I bought a battery/cable for it, so the price was right. I fully charged and depleted the battery several times to break it in. At first my PSP estimated less than 60 min on a full charge. It lasted significantly less time than that. I ran PRO firmware update. I needed to plug it in to run cipl flasher. Minutes. After charging and depleting it a few times. My PSP estimates 7 hours. If I keep my CPU @ default, or under clock it with hold.prx to listen to music, I can get about half of that. Gameplay will kill it significantly faster. Probably 60 minutes tops.

... (like some other reviews had claimed) but I was pleased to see that it works great
I was worried that this would be an old battery that wouldn’t hold a charge (like some other reviews had claimed) but I was pleased to see that it works great. It’s works as if it’s a brand new battery that’s been manufactured recently. Would buy from again.

Less life than should be for a 3600
As was to be expected, the battery had the life expectancy of a 1800 rather than a 3600, but it's at least working better than my last one when I determined it was time to replace it (about 20 minutes), so I'm not complaining too much, but it does show that I probably would have been better off paying for a battery with a lesser mAh. Knowing that it would likely be a lower lifespan than what should be for these batteries (4 hours is the standard for an official 3600 battery), I timed how long it lasted from a full charge until the PSP shut off at low battery, it shut off at 1 hour & 34 minutes (the PS at 19% left on the battery). Of course I was using an app that uses more battery power than a standard PSP game, which is why I'm giving the rating of 3 stars instead of 2, but with this test it had less than half the lifespan of a battery that "should" be at this mAh (maybe a little more if I was playing an actual PSP game). QUICK ASSESSMENT: It will do what you need if you don't intend on playing more than a couple hours at a time, but I wouldn't suggest paying more for a 3600 PSP battery when it only has a little better battery life than an 1800. Also note that the battery came partially charged, so that could have had an effect on the full battery life as I fully charged it before even using it (possibly even used when I got it, I ordered new).

This item works!
My youngest son had thought about getting this because the old battery for his PlayStation Portable was cracked. So, I ordered it for him. When he got this item, the first thing he did was install it into his PlayStation Portable's battery compartment. Then, he charged it up. So, this means that he will give his PlayStation Portable another chance.
