Well this product may be a little expensive for what it is but let me tellya is worth it. Mic is very good (what else would you expect from Rode?) and the light even though is very small it will blind you. I think they could've made a box for travel since is for Vlogging but mmmm... still 5 stars product.

So disappointing. I love the RODE brand, but this purchase was a huge mistake. The iPhone holder broke immediately trying to put the phone in. The light didn't work and the microphone clip is flimsy. On top of that the app it suggests that you use with it is poorly put together and not user friendly. Last, there is a charger included that doesn't go to any of the components. It's like it was thrown in by mistake. I reached out to the seller who ignored my requests for help. If you are deciding between this product and another one, go with the other one. I would have never expected something like this from a company like RODE.

Hi. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. I saw some odd reviews so here is my 2 cents. Mic works and is noticeably better even just using my phone's playback speakers. The light works, but the directions for using it aren't very helpful. It says to hold it down to turn on/off. That didn't work for me right away. Try a rapid double click or try charging it for a little while. The double click worked for me at first and now holding it down for 2 seconds works to power on and off. Don't give up! Aside from the directions with no words, the only inconvenience I encountered is that the mic won't go into the USB port deep enough with my phone's protective case on. There seem to be options for remedying this, but at a fairly significant expense. I'm going to keep digging for a better inexpensive solution than taking my phone case off or carving out the bottom to allow the mic to fit.

Love it works great

I mainly wanted a tripod that wouldn't break. While this tripod has well built quality, be careful opening the phone holder all the way, or the springs will fly away never to be seen again. The build on the light is excellent and looks like you could run it over without causing damage. But it's not good. The battery life is atrocious. And to top it off, you can't use it while plugged in. If the light is "On" (as indicated by the charging light on the back, not the actual light) while plugged in, it also won't charge, which is probably why people are saying it stopped working. It took me a week to realize that. The microphone is good as a mic. You will need to update it with a horribly made app that you'll never use for any other reason. And that app will insist on automatically opening itself every time you plug the microphone in. The microphone's firmware (i assume) also indicates that it is not a mic, but a headset. This sucks, because if you record something, and want to play it back to yourself, you have two options: 1: Unplug the mic. 2: Use a wired headset plugged into the mic. If you go with option 2 while recording, you'll notice the audio and video aren't in sync, so you have to unplug your headset while recording and plug it in to listen. If you go with option 1 and unplug the mic, but then have to re-record your video, you get the app opening up, which is annoying. As far as build quality, audio quality, usability, etc. 4.7 stars. Minus a few because of the spring thing. As far as firmware, negative 3 stars. It's beyond bad, it's actively going out of its way to inconvenience you. If you can get over that, it's worth buying used. I won't be returning this, but I wish rode would at least make some sort of update to fix these issues.

I bought this kit in April 2021 for $149.00 to use with my business. I bought it film Real Estate videos on my ipad pro. It started out working fine for a few months. Then in November the sound was sooo light it sounded like everything, even large noises were whispering. I tried using the Rode App to increase the sound. I sent it back to Rode’s manufacturing to troubleshoot and repair. They said it’s fine but sent me a replacement, which did the same thing. I had my cousin plug it into his android phone, no issues. Mic worked beautifully. Then I plugged it into my MacBook Air, no issues again. It doesn’t work all of a sudden with my ipad pro 11. So if there’s a patch or fix that Apple needs to release, i clearly don’t have it. Now all i have is an expensive paperweight.

Das Set ist Klasse. Das 3 Bein ist sehr stabil und wertig. Die Lampe mit den Farbfiltern ist sehr hell und hält gefühlt ewig. Das Mikrofon ist auch super wenn man ein Richtmikrofon braucht, der Windschutz dafür entfernt auch bei starkem Wind gut die Geräusche

I bought this as I was videoing some rehearsals and the performance for a local choir. Being Rode I thought that this would be well worth the outlay, and after a quick test of recording with and without the external mic there was a noticeable improvement in clarity of quality of the sound. I used it to record some of the practise and rehearsal building up to the concert and the concert itself, during the interval I swapped phones over and set off recording again. Unfortunately when I have come to edit the clips there is a sound issue. It's not permanent or regular, but at various parts of the recording the sound suddenly becomes very distored and digital sounding, after a minue or two it goes back to normal. I though it might be the mic being overloaded as the Choir can go from whisper quiet to big punch in the chest but it didn't only happen in the loud bits. So I have no idea, when it's working it is really nice, I have wondered of it could have been interference from a phone or something else in the area. I'm back out on Saturday for another event so I will try again. The wind proofing mic cover works excellently well and the light, although I haven't used it yet, is certainly bright enough to dazzle (as ever looking into it when turning it on!) and can be changed and adjusted to suit also a small selection of colour filters for it to suit your needs. A nice kite, just hoping that they sound issue was a one off.

Enkel att komma igång med och tar inte alls upp mycket plats. Fördelar: Lampan lyser upp bra i sina 4 lägen men har ingen indikator på hur mycket laddning som är kvar i den. Mikrofonen är bra och fångar upp ljudet bra (testat den inomhus från ca 2 meters håll). Nackdelar: Foten/hållaren: går inte att anpassa speciellt mycket på höjden, antingen maxläge eller bottenläge. Den är heller inte jättestabil med större telefoner (har en Google Pixel 8 Pro) då viktfördelningen blir lite skev. Men har du en mindre lur så ska det funka fint.

I am using this microphone with my Mi 11 Ultra and the audio quality even after update the firmware from rode reporter app is worse than my phone's microphone. 2 stars are completely for the support team and the things that you get in the box. Audio quality of this microphone is pathetic and i have no idea how many youtubers reviewed this product and said its the best kit for vloggers. I think they all were editing the audio in post processing and just lying to the viewers for the money they were getting!! Another possible reasoning can be that they have not updated firmware for Mi 11 Ultra that's just the benifit of the doubt i am giving them but anyway i am returning this back and they(rode) lost a customer. Btw this was my first rode purchase and is gonna be my last!!
