A modern classic, this whimsical story has been celebrating the beauty of African-American hair for over 20 years! In this imaginative, evocative story, a girl named Keyana discovers the beauty and magic of her special hair, encouraging black children to be proud of their heritage and enhancing self-confidence. I Love My Hair! has been a staple in African-American picture books for over 20 years, and now has a fresh, updated cover that shines on the shelves! Review: awesome book for little girls - I wish I had this book as a child who had thick hair and "suffered" through everything that went along with that. My 4 year old granddaughter enjoys it. The illustrations are wonderful and she likes counting them (her own thing not part of the story lol). Also I enjoyed how the author showed the different styles which my granddaughter liked also. This book helps children to accept and appreciate their qualities. You won't be disappointed. I do have to add though ....in my childhood home my mother (rest in peace) wasn't as calm as this mom. I'm sure other ladies remember that too lol. Review: A nature-inspired connection - What a wonderful way to encourage young African-American girls not just to be more accepting of, but to love their hair just the way God made it....by celebrating its versatility! Our thick, curly-/kinky-textured AA hair affects our little girls' self image as they get older. This book is a great platform to lay a lovely and healthy foundation. By showing the main character of the book wearing a variety of styles and making a nature-inspired connection it shows the beauty of our hair. I always tell my daughter how much I love her hair because I know my attitude towards her hair (and my own) will shape her attitude towards our thick textured hair. I am looking forward to giving this book to my little one on Valentine's Day. Another book I'd like to recommend is "I Like Myself" by Karen Beaumont which encourages children to have an overall positive self-esteem.

My girl loves this book!
My baby loves this book! Last month she was feeling discouraged about her hair because the girls at her daycare and the little girl she watches on tv have straighter hair. My girl has curly hair that I keep in cornrows most of the time. Her teacher alerted me that some of the kids have expressed curiosity about her hair, which I’m sure made baby girl feel uncomfortable. But once I read this book a few times (at her request), her confidence soared! She now looks forward to me braiding her hair and she loves the different designs I do. Books like these are very important to have around to show our kids they are unique and beautiful the way God intended them to be. I love this book!

Good reading for little girls
My little granddaughters were having a fit about their hair. They didn't understand why they couldn't wear their hair out all the time like the other kids and why it took so long to do their hair. The issue was that their schools are very much culturally mixed. This book solved the problem for the parents. They enjoyed us reading it to them and was amused that the little girl in the book fussed about getting her hair done too. Good book and good introduction for little girls who hate getting their hair done. Excellent.

Great Video reading book from Iraq
I ordered this book to read to my 7 year old daughter while station in Mosul, Iraq. First, the book was shipped right away and came in right on time. I read the book and was happy with the illustrations and the way the book was written. It was perfect to read and hold it up to the camera and share the pictures with my daughter. It was important for me to show my daughter how beautiful she is and what makes her special. This book provided that. Then, I mailed the book and video back home. After receiving it in the mail and reading along with the video, she told me how much she loved the book. She reads it over and over again.

She gets it now...
My daughter is 10 years old and I have kept her hair naturally curly. She is mixed and gorgeous. She was at school and a little girl told her, " You need to tell your mommy to perm your hair, its a mess." She came home crying because this little girl, who is like her (the girl is african-american) said that to her. I talked to her about it but I don't think she believed me when I told her that her hair was beautiful and special. I came to good ole' Amazon and saw this book. I bought it for her and when it came we read it together. She smiled at the similarities between her and the little girl in the book. Like how she asked her mommy to stop doing her hair until the ouchies went away, the same as she does with me, or that fact that every hair style in the book has been done to her hair too. She LOVES her hair now. And she wants more books about little girls' hair. This is hard but I am looking right now for another one. This book is an inspiration to all little girls of color or mixed race. It truly has been for my daughter.

Wonderful Book!
This is my favourite book I read to my daughter. Her eyes light up as I turn the pages as the graphics are so vibrant! It draws her attention to the story and I believe she knows I'm talking about her hair as she remains so calm during it, I can actually comb through hers!

Great story
Great for building self love and appreciation for the African girl child. Bought this for my daughter's 9th birthday gift. Book came torn and package was not sealed. Not sure what happened between dispatch and getting to Japan.

I really needed this book!!
Being a mother of an afroitalian girl with afro hair can be sometimes difficult. Difficult explain to my daughter how beautiful are her hair , how important take care of them. Thanks to this book she can identify herself with the character and understand that sometime can be annoying but hair are part of her and her roots

Não gostei do produto porque veio danificado.
Todas as folhas estão manchadas e enrrugadas dando ao livro um aspecto de velho e com cheiro forte.
