Impressionists: From Monet to Van Gogh: Coloring Book (Coloring Books)

This is one of two books in this series and they are awesome. Each one is very detailed, including arrows so you can match the brush strokes the masters used if you choose to paint them. Each picture includes a small picture of what the original looked like and those are nice but I wish they were bigger. When you look up the picture online, the colors are pretty true to the original, but you have to mix your own colors (if you choose to paint it) so your result can vary. The paper is nice quality but I suspect it would curl if you used watercolors. I traced them onto thicker paper so I could paint them with acrylic.

I think the other 2 reviewers were expecting to make masterpieces. The Masters used oil paints so one should not expect this to look like an original masterpiece. It delivers a wonderful lesson in painting however. How they used their colors, light and dark etc. A very inexpensive private lesson. Using a magnifier and sharp pencils or markers would be a good idea.The paper is very heavy and suitable for gauche as well as pencils. This is not like the other coloring books out there and not for the impatient.I bought both books in the series of the Impressionists for a wonderful compilation of art work.

This is NOT a coloring book as we tend to think of them. If you have poor vision, don't bother because the lines and color codes is light grey and impossible to see without magnification. Also, you need to combine colors to get most of them so if you don't know how to do that with pencil, it's not easy at all. The paper is fine for pencil but if you have watercolor pencils and think you'll add water, this is NOT watercolor paper. It's nice that you can pull out the pages To work on them but the color chart is on the reverse of original image and you need to keep flipping the pad. I'm very disappointed.

I cant express how pleased I am with this coloring book. I love that they show how to get the mix for proper colors if you were to paint it. Everything is broken down and made a lot easier to approach. I love this.

I like it a lot. The pictures are wonderful.i tried drawing on the least of my favourite,and found my pencils are not soft enough. I really need a prismacolor pencil for this type of colouring. Another item that I am sure you have on amazon. In all I am very satisfied.

Honestly, haven't really expected such a complex coloring book. It's really not for beginners because it has so many little spots to color. But the result is pretty neat.

If you are trying to get a feeling for these artists' use of light, color, and moving energy, this book helps you do that. I am very pleased.

i get it 3 stars because when coloring i could still see the numbers under the color so you have to use paint for this book

Good selection if pictures and very (extremely) detailed, so you need patience. I would have given the book five stars, but the numbers and arrows show through, even using dark colours. I have used best quality Faber Castell pencils and tried building up the layers of colour, but to no avail.If you are happy for the numbers to show through, then this is a good book and will provide hours of enjoyment.

Excellent pictures but would have given 5 stars I'd numbers had been lighter as watercolours don't always cover the numbers but picture are a great size and the colour information is very good.
