If by "mouth" you mean the actual width of the jar opening, it is about 3.5-4 inches. If you mean the hole the straw goes into, it is only a half inch.

Q: I'm looking to use these for tea. Can these jars handle the heat?

I fill these 2/3 full of hot black coffee, let them sit a while to cool down and put them in the refrigerator. No problem with the heat.
