Shipping Container Homes: Building a Home Using Containers – A Simple How to Guide for Beginners Review: Great entry level guide to building a shipping container home - I have built around 3 shipping container homes within the last two years and am always looking to up my knowledge on the subject. I came across this book and thought it was a decent read. Lots of it is devoted to the general concepts surrounding this type of construction and if you are unsure of a layout, there is lots of help there as well. I like the clear language and straightforward approach the uses in sharing these concepts. My only gripe is that i feel the author didn't go deep enough into the build particulars. Anyone that has every actually built knows that general plans and a broad idea are very different from measuring tape and screws being driven. To be fair, that level of technical detail may not have been the point and as a fairly deep introduction to building with shipping containers, i can say this is definitly a good book. Review: Informative - Very simple, no drawing no floor plans, just tips and good insites for first timer container builder, really good info

Good...information for the beginner.
As a designer/builder, I found a number of items in this book to be inaccurate. For example, not all states in the U.S. allow for the construction of residential dwellings constructed with the use of intermodal shipping containers. One reason is for the misunderstanding of the engineering of said structures. It's mentioned that it's wise to check the legal restrictions of where you intend to build - true, no matter what type of home you intend to build. Having a certified professional engineer sign off on your final drawings is a plus. Note also that there are states that simply don't care where or what you build to live in. As with any information or guidance, vet everything...to play the caution card in all that you do. A well thought out plan and design will serve you very well.

Not in color
I expected color pictures. It's all bnw. It reads more like a technical manual than a design reference. I only glanced at it and then gave it to my husband... So I can't comment on the information... Just the appearance which was crap

Incredible resource!
This book was very informative with lots of useful information, much of which I've never seen anywhere else. This is a great book! I have been researching options for homes on our land in Arkansas and have found much that covers just a few pieces of the puzzle. Some books talk about the kind of soil that's necessary to put a container home on but they don't get into detail about why each type has its advantages and disadvantages. Our soil has a fairly high clay content and the book offered some solutions for that but also brought to mind some other things that I could do with that soil. He gave me enough information that I could expand my research and other areas. detailed information about types of containers and why certain features were important were helpful as well. Although we're not ready to proceed with the container home I'm going to keep this book and use it as a guide to go on that adventure in the next couple of years. I highly recommend this book.

Your dream home at a low budget
This is a good guide for anyone who wants to own a dream home at a reasonably low cost. Using containers to build your new home is a perfect way to own a home without spending the many months it takes to build a conventional brick home. The book takes you through every step, from the material choice, architectural considerations, and permitting process necessary to realize a single- or multi-room dwelling. Easy to read and understand. A well-done step-by-step manual.

Has to be one of the best books on Container Homes!
It has been a dream of mine for years to build a shipping container home. I have read so many ebook and blogs on the subject, but most them so you the layouts or finished product. This book really helps the reader dig into the actual planning process. For the Pros and Cons of the type of containers to use, to what you may need to bring in order to secure the permits for the build. Perfect for people who are looking to do the project themselves, it also has several floor plans to inspire. This book is a must have for anyone trying to make the dream of a container home a reality

Livro ok para ter as primeiras noções mas longe de ser um guia passo a passo com imagens e boa base para uma primeira construção
