Easy to Dose and Puppy LOVES the Taste; Does Not Make the Room Smell or Puppy Breath Smell; Appears to be Helping with Hip!
I'm a first time puppy owner and my little one has a hip that cracks and she has limped before after intense exercise. The vet says it is nothing, but of course I worry. So I did a lot of research and decided to add a joint supplement to my puppy's diet. From my research, a glucosamine supplement was the way to go. First we tried some glucosamine tablets. They could be broken up into little pieces or eaten whole. Whatever I did, I could not get my puppy to eat them. The smell or the taste was bad to me, and it clearly didn't work for her. Next I did some research on powders. It came down to a few of them and, after comparing products and the prices, I thought this was the better purchase. So I bought this one and I have to say I am happy with the product. It is quite easy to dose! Get a 1/2 teaspoon or full teaspoon measuring spoon and follow the directions. My puppy is about 52 pounds, so I use two scoops. The product does not cake together in the bag but does stay together. It is easy to sprinkle over the food. The product does have a little bit of a smell, but it is not overpowering and does not linger. Most importantly, after my puppy eats the smell is not really on her breath--which is good because my puppy loves to give thank you kisses after feeding her! As for the breakdown of the product, I am not a chemist so I don't know if it contains what it says it contains. But I will note that I have not observed my puppy limping since we have been using the product now for about a month or two. Her coat appears to be a little lighter of a color and maybe even a little thicker. She has not been sick or had an upset tummy with this product. She has normal energy. Most importantly, she really enjoys this product on her food. Given the option, she would absolutely take food with this product sprinkled on it over her normal food. And since I have not taste-tested it, I will take it as a sign it tastes very good too. I will be reordering this product and I would recommend this for any dog who may be developing any leg or hip injury or condition. The product appears to be working and, at the very least, there are nutrients in it that help a developing puppy. Whether you have a puppy or elderly dog, give this a shot! JUST NOTE: It must be refrigerated once open and is only good for 90 days once open. So if you have only one dog, make sure you get the properly sized bag so it does not spoil before you can use it all.

Great for disabled dogs!
I love it! Been giving this to my disabled husky for a few years now. She is 8 now and still running like a pup even though she has a birth defect in one of her back legs. She doesn’t mind the taste. When she has a hard day of mobility this helps her bounce right back.

Main ingredient is flaxseed
Using this for over 2 years now. It definitely works. I would recommend, but stress that the main base of this is flaxseed which can cause digestion issues if you give a lot to a dog and human. If you have other foods that you give your dog that have flaxseed in it be aware on the amount in their diet. It is also very common for dogs to be intolerable to flaxseed so do your part and make sure your dog is able to eat flaxseed. I got this originally because it has the least side effects compared to other supplements. And it seems that the main negative reviews are from allergies and stomach/consistency. It definitely works for those that don’t have an issue with flaxseed or any other ingredient(s), but you need to give it time like any other supplement (3months) and keep it away from humidity and heat (treat it like it’s just flaxseed). I don’t put it in the fridge since the place I keep it stays in a ideal storage temp, but if your house gets hot or overly humid I would suggest to put it in the fridge so the flaxseed part doesn’t spoil. The bag does not mention about refrigeration and I’m only suggesting this because other reviewers have mentioned refrigeration. Example explanation: 3 days the limp should be less noticeable and 2 weeks you should see better improvement like shorter period of limping after walks. 3 months and they wont be limping/stiff after walks or hard exercises. If it doesn’t help after 3 months then try a different supplement. For those wanting to save with the bigger bag, I bought the 5 lb bag at one point and would only recommend it to those who have multiple dogs because after 3months it stops being effective and I had to buy a new bag to get my dog back to not limping again. I really have a hard time concentrating on researching, but based on the experience with this… yes it helps with joint and mobility. Is it the best? Probably not. Is it a permanent solution to the problem? No, it’s like a bandaid somewhat like tylenol. Once you stop using it the issues come back. However, that is the same with all the rest of the supplements I’ve researched. Will I be keeping the dog on this? I will keep looking, but currently this works fine for my dog. I would definitely recommend this to people who have dogs with non extreme hip/joint issues. It also has omega3 that helps improve your dog’s coat. Hope this helps for those who are debating and weary.

SO GLAD WE FOUND THE MISSING LINK!
As our german short-hair pointer has entered "double digits" in the age department, it has become increasingly obvious that he was starting to have pain, despite him trying to hide it. Our vet recommended glucosamine and Rimadyl, a prescription medication that has been known to be effective pain-relief for most dogs, but can come with some very undesirable side effects. Prior to starting him on a life-long pain medication, I researched natural supplements for dogs with hip & join pain. Missing Link fit the bill based on it's natural/researched ingredients, price, and positive reviews, and within the first few days I noticed my dog was laying around less, had more energy/drive to play, and could run with me outside again without any signs of pain or 'wiggly' hips. We use it as directed based on his weight and he know is back to running a few miles/week with me seemingly-pain free. All he wants to do is run and play now...I actually have to encourage/insist that we walk or take it easy sometimes because I don't want him to "over-do it". We are beyond thrilled to have found a natural, affordable supplement that is working for our dog and so is he! You can tell he feels so much better, is happier, and he also loves the taste. One precaution/down-fall of the product is that it gave him kind of a 'dry cough' after eating it, as I think little pieces of the dry powder (which I sprinkle on top of his dry dog food) get stuck in his throat. I have tried mixing it with a little liquid/melted coconut or olive oil, but don't want him to get TOO much fat (using it twice/day) and even a whole tablespoon of the oil doesn't melt into enough liquid to prevent the issue. I have resorted adding a little water or low sodium chicken-broth to his bowl and mixing the food around with missing link and it has alleviated the issue about 95%, as I occasionally hear him try to 'clear his throat'. I am going to take him to the vet for a follow up soon, and will update this review if she has any other good suggestions.

Worked well for another dog
I have Old English Sheepdogs. This product worked well for an elderly dog I had who passed away a few years ago. He was having difficulty with his hind legs and this made him feel a bit better. He loved having it added to his food. Now, one of my other dogs is getting up there in age and it doesn't seem to help him as much. Maybe because his condition isn't as advanced, I can't see the improvement easily. He, too, thinks it's quite tasty. Maybe it's good as a prevention measure. I was disappointed to see how much the price increased over the years, but I guess everything is getting more expensive these days. I recommend trying the 1 lb package to see if it helps your pup. If it helps a lot, then get the larger package.

Changed My Dog's Life
This supplement changed my 5 year old pitbull's life. Ryder is unfortunately the product of inbreeding (commonly seen in pitbulls) and has horrible hip and other joint problems already in life. Even a walk around the block would leave him limping for the rest of the day and into the next. Because he couldn't exercise, and because of my hesitation to conjur up the painful side effects of walking, Ryder was about 7-9 pounds overweight (a lot for a dog). A couple days after sprinkling this onto his high quality dog food, I took note of how much more alert he seemed than usual. After a week, I noticed he would stand around the house instead of sitting. After about two weeks he was bouncing and frolicking about the house as though in a newly found puppy-hood. I cried with delight when he jumped into the car by himself for the first time since he was a puppy. Ryder has been eating Missing Link for about 3 months now, and I will never take him off of it. Ever. We are walking at least a mile every day without any painful limping or soreness the next day. He can now easily jump up onto the bed (only on special occasions) with ease! He climbs steps like a champ! Ryder has lost 5 pounds because Missing Link has enabled him to have an active lifestyle. This stuff is really inexpensive on Amazon. The 5-lb bag lasts me over two months when feeding to two pitbulls between 60-65 lbs. once everyday. Be sure to store it in the fridge after you open it! *Update 2017 My boy is still going strong thanks to Missing Link. It's worked so well on my dog, my father even took notice of his improvement and started using this for his aging chocolate lab. We took the dogs on vacation with us to the beach last summer- something I don't think Ryder could have handled with his knee and hip issues three years ago. A tablespoon a day for us keeps the joint aches and arthritis away! The price on Amazon has increased by about 35%- sad to see, but, I will never take my dogs off this product after the changes I've seen. I have been able to find it cheaper at locally owened pet stores in my area, on occasion.

Extends Dogs’ Life Quality & Span
I have been using this product 20 plus years. Started all three dogs on it as puppies. Female purebred Rottweiler lived to be almost 16 years old, white pure bred female boxer lived 13 years and one month (all others in her lived 8 years), currently, mutt poodle mix, 16 years old. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE COMPONENT IS, BUT EXTENDS LIFE QUALITY AND SPAN OF DOGS.

Great product!
I can't say enough good things about this product! I've been giving it for about 4 months and it's been a miracle for our 3 year old dog that everyone thought was at least 10 years old. The stiffness and pain in his joints is about 90% improved. We put it in his food and he eats it without hesitation. He hasn't had any digestive issues with it and it doesn't have an unpleasant smell.

Seems to work! Dogs can't talk!
Our old dog seems to have a lot more life and mobility since taking this. On that basis alone it looks like a worthwhile product. As the dog of course cannot confirm this for herself we have to infer this is a benefit since nothing else has changed. A bit surprised to learn it needs to be refrigerated but no real hardship - will be re-ordering.

Wow... what a difference it made in our 8 yr old Flat Coat Retriever
Our girl had knee surgery at the age of 8 after many years of running with her owners (which she loved). Unfortunately aging and wear and tear got to her and her ligament failed. After her surgery (January 12th, 2021) we were looking for a supplement (Dr. recommended) to help in her healing. We found this product, I read the reviews and decided to take a chance. The product was delivered on Oct 9th 2021, and now, (January 17th, 2022) I am writing this review to say, "wow... what a difference we have noticed". She's like a 2 year old again. Playful, active, (no long runs) chases squirrels, runs through the woods, jumps up on rocks (hasn't done that in months) has power in her back legs and overall is without stiffness and pain. I highly recommend this product and will definitely buy another bag when this one is finished.

Well worth the money, it’s a miracle supplement!
This is the first time that I have bought this product through Amazon. Previously I had gotten it at a local pet food store that discontinued it. I was happy to find that I could buy a five pound bag for $150.00 vs the $40/1 lb bag. This stuff is a miracle for my dog, it has given him energy and excellent mobility. He is eight and previously had a TPLO in his right knee. After using this he is no longer limping and the left leg looks solid so no more operations in his future. It has also helped to clear up the dry crusty nose that was a symptom of his lupus. He acts and looks like a much younger dog and this is because of this supplement.
