Does this break the spine of paperback books? I read books that my friends loan me. Will this damage and paperback book?

It has not broken any spines on my books or the books my parents read. It is a wonderful little tool even if you are not using a treadmill. My Mom had a stroke 1 1/2 years ago and she loves to read. With the Flipklip she can read with one hand. We love it.

How easily can you hold the book with this and turn the page one handed?

It works pretty well on books that have fewer than 400 pages. I found that it is easier to put the new page under the left clip if I take the rubber cover off of it. Kept the rubber thing on the right one since it seems to hold alright without making it hard to turn the page.

Will this work for thick paperback novels?

I haven't used it on thick paperback novels. But I have on thick non-fiction paperbacks with success.
