Locate the split in the nock. Place the point on the inside of the plier that is adjacent to the lever on the outside of the handle that you just positioned all the way up or down. Close the pliers handle with the point on the inside of the plier handle placed in the split in the nock. While holding (squeezing) the handles move the small lever on the outside of the handles all the way in the opposite direction. If it is up then move it down while holding pressure on the handles. There will be a small tip inside the handles that will cause the nock to open slightly. If the nock does not open enough on the first stroke then just maintain pressure on handles and move the small lever back to it's starting position.
