This was my first embroidery project and every aspect went well. I'm sure I made some mistakes but I'm very pleased with the finished product. The kit includes EVERYTHING you need, which is a nice surprise. It comes with the pattern printed on the fabric, all the embroidery thread needed (and plenty leftover), 3 needles, a needle threader, a hoop, and a pair of thread clippers. There's a color photo of what the finished piece should look like, which also shows the type of stitch used in which area, and which color it should be. The directions tell you how to prepare and how to finish when done embroidering. The printed pattern erases in water. The stitch instructions have a photo of the stitch and short list of directions. They are just adequate; I would suggest watching some embroidery videos on YouTube to really get the best idea of how to do them. This is a good project for a beginner, I didn't find it difficult at all. Because it's so complete, it would make a good gift also. As other reviews noted, this is NOT cross-stitch.
