The Renogy spec sheet says that model RVR-40 only handles up to 520W in the 12V configuration (i.e. connected to a 12V battery bank). The 800W you mentioned is for the RVR-30 in the 24V configuration (i.e. two 12V batteries in series). **Q: Can I disconnect the battery while the solar collector is still connected?** A: No, I dont think that's a good idea since they say connect batteries first the solor panels. If you was to shut ur system down, the go in reverse. Panels discount then battery. **Q: How does the Rover measure battery capacity remaining % if it does not have a shunt? Can percent remaining be reset ?** A: It can not be reset unless you power it down. Mine is not very accurate. **Q: Can this controller be used with RV converter running?** A: Should work fine as it operates as a 12-24V system.
