As usual with standard Lego quality the pieces are nice and the build is quite well designed... the set itself is nothing spectacular compared to other much more complicated lego kits though, the selling point of this should be the app (which you can download and use without purchasing this kit i believe)... however, i feel a major drawback that i was not aware of, of this app is that it cannot record any sound... so you cannot make up your own script/conversation in your story. instead you can only use canned sound clips, which greatly reduces the fun of what story you can create. the price on amazon is cheaper than store price, but had i have known that 1. you can just download the app and 2. it cannot record sound, i dont think i would have bought this set... can just use another app (iMovie?) and play with lego sets already owned.

Ordered as a gift for a child. Box was damaged and taped up on all sides. Clearly pre-owned since it arrived with a Goodwill sticker in place—despite being listed as “new”. Unable to verify if all pieces included. Smells like it was kept in a basement. Super disappointed, would give 0/10 stars for this transaction.

My 8 year old actually downloaded the LEGO movie making app before he got this set. He was making movies like crazy and actually started to get pretty good.The app is simple to use and very fun, but if you want to do very much editing, you’ll be disappointed. It was perfect for my 8 year old though, because it was simple.This set added lots of fun and hours to the movie making experience. And of course, the LEGO movie theme was a hit.My recommendation is to get the app first and see if you like the movie making process. As long as you like the movie making process, definitely get this set because it enhances the experience!Good times!
