Perfumes, Splashes & Colognes: Discovering and Crafting Your Personal Fragrances

I like book in good condition and packaging was good also.

I bought this for a young neighbor who would not accept money for feeding my cat while I was away. I couldn’t have made her happier. She used it and brought me over her samples. They were actually quite nice! It wasn’t just a toy. She now wants to create her own line of perfumes and sell them.

I am only writing this as a guide for people who have read the other reviews. I am going to buy this book, as well as some other ones, because I used to make perfume for a major U.S. candle company, and it is maddening to not remember what I used to make!!! I feel that for aromatherapy, natural oils are essential, but there is nothing wrong with synthetics for sachets, candles, and other non-topical applications. If you shine sunlight, or a flashlight through a prism, are the colors any different? Such is the quandry concerning synthetic versus natural. And many people would benefit from knowing the various groups, or families, because everything smells different on different people. I once had access to an out-of-print, French perfume chemical handbook, costing hundreds of dollars, and also, hundreds of handwritten french perfume formulas, made obsolete by modern methods. So I am trying to replace that lost information, and begin to identify the scents in perfumes all over again. There is a nice selection of books available - a good place to start!

I purchased this book to give me some ideas for some fragrances for my online shop[...]. I haven't as of yet really sat down and read it, but when I fanned through it, it was just what I was expecting to help me with some ideas. I'm sure it will aid in some wonderful fragrances. Stop by some time and see what I have created. Then add me to your favorites and stop by often as I'm always adding new products. Thanks

Got me started mixing more oils and people always ask me what is that you have on it smells goodthen I tell them I made it and they don't believe it , then they ask me for my phone number and how they can buy it,so I started carry what I made with me and sell it on the spot, so for that thank you Brother Paul.

This book covers, in detail, many of the bases for creating scents of your own. It goes over the most common scent crafting basics, detailed descriptions of certain scents, gives recipes, and gives many other resources and commercial scent descriptions. All around a win, especially if you're just starting out or a hobbyist.

Nice introduction to home perfume making. For those of you complaining that this is not a natural perfume book, the book clearly says that it is not; however, the methods and formulas are the same. The suggestions are intriguing but I've found that the author's site and company are no longer around but there are others out there.
