What a GREAT invention!!!
This clock light is amazing. It does exactly what it is supposed to do! Let me start with a background... I have a 2 3/4 year old & a 13 month old. They share a bedroom. All of a sudden since the time "sprung ahead" and it got bright out earlier and earlier, my 2 year old decided he should get up earlier. He used to sleep until 8am, then all of a sudden we were getting up at 630. He also kept waking up my other son, "Cameron it's time to get up, the suns up!!" So my kiddos were up earlier and earlier every day. Finally, a friend told me about this clock & sure enough I found it on Amazon. It is a little pricy for a 'clock' but I took the plunge. Boy am I glad I bought this. It works great. The light is red when he has to 'stay in bed' You set the clock for whatever time you would like it to switch to green. So I tell my kids when it's green you can open your eyes! Also, it's nice there is a setting for just the amber yellow light as a night light. I've been setting the color change to happen at 730am (you can also set it to have an actual alarm sound, but we don't use that feature at this time - maybe when the kids are in school) It is hilarious in the morning, I can hear my son get up around 630 and mumble to himself, "it's red, stay in bed" haha ... but once 7:30 comes around, he says "Mom! Dad! It's green! Time to get up!" I love this thing. Gives my husband, myself and our 13month old an extra hour of sleep (much needed). We plan on slowly adding 5 minutes every few days to get back to 8am. If you are in the same situation, I definitely recommend this item. It works great. I will adjust my review if anything comes up! :)

BEST purchase for early riser toddler
Our son was waking up at 5am, sometimes as early as 4:30am. Way too early in our household! He had been a 7am riser which is much more our style. When we started using this clock, my son was still working on talking but he understood red lights and green lights when we drove in the car so I thought this would be a concept he would understand. We started setting the clock at 6am. The first few mornings he woke up before his light had turned green. We would go in his room (he's in a crib still) and let him know he couldn't get up until it turned green. He wasn't happy but after a few days he got it! Once he understood the concept, we started setting the clock later and later until we got him back to 7am! This clock has literally been a lifesaver. We have an infant daughter too and my son who is very loud was waking everyone in the house. A few things that aren't great about the clock - 1. When the power goes out, the clock turns off (even though you put batteries in it). If your power goes back on, it will have the correct time. Not a big deal if your child is already asleep or stays asleep during the power outage. 2. We use this clock for nap time as well but since there is only one alarm setting, we have to change the alarm time twice a day (not that big of a deal). 3. For us (this may not matter to some children), our kids are used to sleeping in dark rooms with no night lights. The red light that shines all night was too bright for our son so we put electrical tape over the light and clock numbers (made the clock not as cute). It still glows red which he likes but without the tape it was a little too bright (for us). 4. My son thought this was a toy because of the cute little boy in the car. Also not a huge deal. It is up high where he can't reach it but there was some whining and tears in the beginning because he really wanted to play with it. He knows now that just mommy and daddy can touch the clock. Overall, this has been one of our best purchases as parents! Our son calls "I'll call you when the light turns green" every night as we close his door.

Great product and works!
My daughter, who is 16 months, was a very poor sleeper. In fact, she co-slept with us until she was 15 months because while she would be in her crib for the first few hours into the night, she would scream 2 hours after bedtime to be in bed with us. I struggled through many different sleep methods and finally decided to use the cry it out method, coupled with this light. The consistency, plus using the red/green feature helped tremendously. I always turn my own alarm on 2 minutes before her light turns green so that the moment it turns green I can be in there and say, "good morning, green light", establishing trust. So she knows green means she can get out of her crib. It's a life saver! Unlike other reviewers, I don't think the light is too bright. It is very clear for her to see which I like, but it does not face her while she sleeps do it doesn't get in the way of her sleeping. It does look very cheaply made, but is also sturdy and heavy. The paint is uneven, you can see the big globs of glue, but I don't mind. It's not attractive, but it does exactly what I need it to do. It's true that a nap feature would be nice because in order to establish consistency I use this too. However, it's very easy to change the alarm. Simply press Set twice then put in the time, the press Set again. A little inconvenient, but then again, so is not getting any sleep. In short, well worth the money. I'm thinking if buying another one just in case and for traveling, but am a bit hesitant since others have complained that theirs did not work after some time. So far, mine has worked out very well. I hope this review helps!

One of my favorite purchases of all time!
We've got TWO--one for my son, and one for my daughter. Probably one of my favorite things we've bought EVER. We've had his for 2 years and my daughter's for 4 years, and they still work great. My kids come out of their room when their stoplight turns green, which means we get an entire night of uninterrupted sleep at our house. This helps: *Your sanity *your kid learn to tell time (since it *also* has the time display) *your kid to sleep more (if they wake up in the night, they look to see if their light has turned green yet and will go back to sleep) At first, you have to be consistent--"has your stoplight turned green yet?" and taking them back to bed if it's not time yet. (If they were upset by that, I would generally go and rock them in their room until the stoplight turned green if it was close to time.) But now, there's a security to that stoplight--it creates structure, which feels safe to little ones. We started training our little ones with this clock when they were around 2 or 2.5. My one tiny complaint: there is an alarm switch where you can turn on a loud, audible alarm that will go off when the stoplight turns green. Little fingers have turned that alarm on a couple of times, which created a fear of the alarm for a bit. To get past that, we put a sticker over the switch and told the frightened child that "Mommy has fixed it forever" and that it couldn't make that noise ever again. I would suggest starting there--covering the switch--to avoid that entire scenario.

Terrible quality...
Great idea, terrible quality. I ordered one of these for my 3 year old son. My 5 year old has a similar product but this was cuter for his room and easier for him to see from a far. The first one came, plugged it in, set the time, set the alarm then turned "on" the alarm at bed time so the red light was on until the alarm was set for the morning at 6:45 and was supposed to turn green. He came in our room around 7:00 and we thought "Great! It worked." I asked him if the clock was green and he said "No". I thought he was just goofing around. I went in his room, the whole thing was dead. No power whatsoever. I tried it in a different outlet and still nothing. I put batteries in which the directions said were "optional". Nothing. I ordered another one. Came a few days later, tried the same plug from the first one, it worked! Made me feel it wasn't the plug. I took the new one and new plug out, set it up, boxed up the old one and sent it back. I figured I should test the new one. Set the time, set the alarm for 2 minutes and waited. 2 minutes go by, red light goes off, green light does not come on! The green light was broken! I tried a few more times as well as letting it go overnight and the green light 100% did not work. At least this one still had power in the morning but it was useless since the green light didn't work. I ordered a new one. Boxed up the old one sent it back. New one arrived a few days later, tested the red and green lights. Both worked! Set it up in his room, plugged it in, put batteries in it just in case and waited for morning. He came busting in our room at 5:30 and I told him to go back and wait until the red light goes off and the green light comes on. He said the red light was off. I went in the room, it was dead. Again, I tried different outlets and nothing. Went to their website and called and e-mailed. No response. Returning it and going with the "Teach me Time" clock since it has worked for my daughter for 2 years without an issue. Bad quality, zero customer service from manufacturer. Buy at your own risk.

Miracle Worker!
This clock was a miracle worker in our house. Our 2.5 year-old son had just transitioned to his "big boy" bed and was in the habit of getting up in the middle of the night convinced that it was morning. It was very difficult to convince him to go back to sleep. I searched all over for a light similar to this, and this was the best alternative I could find. It was a little expensive, but for how well it worked, I would have gladly paid more! We explained the clock to him, and the first couple nights, he got prizes if he stayed in bed (or even easily went back to bed after getting up) until the green light. Now, months later, we still use it. We take it with us everywhere that we travel, and it really helps. He wakes up, sees that it's red, and goes back to bed. Amazing! It makes sense - when an adult wakes up in the middle of the night, the first thing you do is look at a clock to see what time it is, but a toddler doesn't have that ability, and the light outside isn't always an indicator due to changing seasons. The light itself is extremely cheaply made. The little man fell out of the car and then fell in 2 pieces, but the clock is still functioning well. I've noticed that it gains a minute every week or so, so I just reset it periodically. So don't buy it for the high quality, but particularly if you have a transportation-obsessed toddler who won't stay in bed, this is a wonder worker!

So worth it if your kid abides by it
My 4 yr old would come into our bed at all times of the night. He loves cars and loves the game of "green light - go, red light stop" when we are out in the park. He is one of those kids that likes rules and listens so I said why not give this a try... It was worth every penny!!! Since he got it he has not gotten out of bed in the middle of the night unless its a potty emergency. He even sometimes refuses to get out of bed if the rest of house is up haha. The construction is a little 'cheap' looking for the price but the function of the lights works great and thats the main thing I suppose. Could this be made and sold for $10 in reality yes, but functionally it works and my kid loves it.

Has its bugs, but functional
I've got one of these for my three year old, which we got about a year ago, and it works well enough...although as others have noted it's remarkably cheap quality is a bit worse than I'd expect for its price. The other major issue I have with it is that it's BRIGHT - I'm pretty sure that it woke him up when it turned green more than a few times (the issue that has been noted before that it only stays green for one hour then goes out is also a little annoying). I ended up taking it apart and putting a few layers of masking tape on the inside of the lenses to dim them down a fair bit to reduce the brightness factor, as well as flipping the "audible alarm on/off" switch to the inside so that my oh-too-clever son can't turn it onto "buzz" anymore. Even with the downsides, though, it does (mostly) work - well enough that I'm buying another one tonight for my almost-two-year-old (with the plan to disassemble it to dim it down and flip the switch before he ever sees it).
