Top Gear 15 (DVD)

Ever since I discovered Top Gear about three years ago, I have religiously downloaded every episode from torrent sites the day they were broadcast in England. I love this show and I enjoy watching it more than anything else on TV. Of course, the legality of downloading the shows online is disputable and although it has been fine for years, I decided that I would show my support for the show by buying at least a few seasons after seeing they were available on Amazon. I have received both seasons 14 and 15, and season 16 is pre-ordered. Compared to the downloaded versions, the Blu-ray copies are overall superior. Aside from usual annoyances like the FBI warning and previews for other shows that show up on all disc-based movies, most of the music played throughout the different segments has been replaced by very generic (royalty free) loops; disappointing but fully expected and understandable, due to copyright restrictions from the record companies. Picture and sound quality is fantastic, especially compared to TV rips that are sometimes less than perfect. In short, I'd recommend these to any Top Gear fan and perhaps as a way to lure in others who have never seen this fantastic program.

One of the best shows on television. Don't need to be a 'car' person for such. They are three very smart and witty presenters and the locations they visit and the 'challenges' they have to confront are as good as it gets.

I have only been a Top Gear fan for about 1 year now, but I cant get enough of the "Pokey Motoring Show on BBC2". Like a fine wine, Top Gear has been getting better with age. The hosts are on the top of their game in Season 15, and the 6 episode Blu Ray is an awesome set. Season 15 gives us such memorable moments as Jeremy flipping the Reliant Robin numerous times, and James taking a Toyota Helix up the side of an active volcano! The "Stars in Reasonably Priced Cars" are fun and interesting, boasting such names as Rupert Grint, Tom Cruise, and Cameron Diaz. The reviews are, as always, entertaining and reliable. The Blu Ray has the UK cuts of the episodes, so we get a bit more footage. Bonus material is vast and introspective, and we even get a look into Captain Slow's drive to the BBC Studio. In summation, this set if a worth while purchase for any fans of Top Gear.

REJOICE FELLOW TOP GEAR FANS!! Finally - I'm THRILLED to say that I just received seasons 14 and 15 on Blu-ray and they work beautifully on my PS3! Magnificent! The picture is absolutely unbelievable! Any TG fan will LOVE this - skip the regular disk and go straight to the Blu-ray!

Thought it is always fun and great to watch these 3 guys, with their special british humor, I've ended a little dissapointed with the DVD as I could not find the special episode on their trip to the US, with the Ferrari 458, the Mercedes SLS and the Porsche GT3, which seems to be great from I could see in You tube. By visiting the Top Gear web site, I can see that this special was part of the season 15, but it is not in this DVD. I hope it will be in the season 16 DVD!

Well, this is the original Top Gear, with all the madness that entails. The episodes on these discs have not been edited so we can see what was not broadcast on BBC America.. Fun. Many folks (our) favourites are here; It has the Icelandic volcano, the new reasonably priced car, with welcome party, The Reliant Robin, of course. It also has the home made motor homes. A little something for everyone (If you like that sort of thing). I think it is well worth the price, the whole of Series 15 is here.

My husband absolutely loves this show and I have really warmed up to it as well. I find myself choosing to watch it even when he is not in the room. I bought him these DVDS because he wanted to see the extras that are not shown on BBC America. He has been very happy with the extras provided on the blueray. If you like directors cuts and extra information about the show you will be very happy with this DVD.

Season 15 is one of the better seasons of a stellar show. Picture quality was great, the only disappointment was finding out the audio is in stereo. When sitcoms and sports are having at least 5.1 audio, it seems strange that such a well shot show would only be stereo.

つい最近BSフジで放送された分ですね。今は１６を放送中でまもなく終了。 英語の字幕が見れます。たぶん、アメリカで販売用のものです。 ブルーレイでこの値段は安い。誰かも書いてたけど、NHKも見習って欲しいなー。値段安くして皆にみてもらうのが、NHKの存在意義になっているのでは？

Season 15 definitely delivers the goods when it comes to information and critical consumer breakdowns. It features fabulous looking, futuristic vehicles and the hosts are genial, jovial blokes who know they're damn lucky to be indulging in their favorite fuel-injected pastime. And for all its slick and highly-produced polish, this is a down to Earth and quite funny show. Easily earning a Highly Recommend rating, the British prove that they can make Masterpiece Theater out of machines, manifolds, and MPH. Top Gear is terrific, and that's no tame traction control.
