Review: Excellent - Same as described, but needs some precautions to work perfectly: 1- Don't exceed max level 2- slow rotation to remove lumps only. 3- must secure lower drawer nicely in place. With this few precautions it will work perfect. The cat is enjoing it and 60% to 70 % less effort is needed to clean Review: Not Practical - needs improvement in the hand movement or to be replaced with metal one - - This product has more ads on social media than it deserves and whenever I write comments on their Instagram, they delete them and the whole post to escape from facing the truth. -The design looks nice and helpful but when I tried it, the handle was broken from the first week due to a fault in the design as sand is heavy and most of it goes inside when trying to flip the tray. - At least the handle has to be made from better material (steel) - Smell still comes out - No plastic bags can be found in the market that can fit with the tray's shape at a reasonable price. - I am now cleaning it manually as same as before, like any cheap litter box (not automatic) - The price is very high compared with the quality and experience, regret to buy it. ## Features - Efficiently maximizes the use of cat litter - Closed design - no mess, no odours and no dust - Simply pull the lever to sift and refresh the cat litter - Integrated carbon filter - helps control odours - Compatible with Catit Ammonia Buster litter box add-on to absorb and retain up to 80% of hazardous ammonia gases - Suitable for the Catit Super Mix litter ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B009B83V76 | | Additional Features | Automatic litter sifting, sealed design, integrated carbon filter for odor control, manual system with no motorized parts | | Best Sellers Rank | #12,594 in Pet Supplies ( See Top 100 in Pet Supplies ) #159 in Cat Litter Boxes | | Brand | Catit | | Brand Name | Catit | | Color | Grey | | Colour | Grey | | Customer Reviews | 3.5 out of 5 stars 9,583 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00022517506851, 10022517506858, 20022517506855 | | Included Components | All items listed in description. | | Item Dimensions L x W x H | 66L x 48W x 63H centimeters | | Item Type Name | Smartsift | | Item Weight | 6497 Grams | | Item weight | 6497 Grams | | Litter Box Type | Automated Self-Cleaning Litter Box | | Manufacturer | R C Hagen Ltd | | Manufacturer Part Number | 50685 | | Material | Plastic | | Material Type | Plastic | | Model Number | 50685 | | Pet Type | Cat | | Product dimensions | 66L x 48W x 63H centimeters | | Size | Product Dimensions: 26"L x 19"W x 25"H | | Style | Cat Pan | | Target Species | Cat | | UPC | 022517506851 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Weight Capacity Maximum | 11 Pounds | | With Lid | Yes | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Catit - **Colour:** Grey - **Material:** Plastic - **Product dimensions:** 66L x 48W x 63H centimeters - **Size:** Product Dimensions: 26"L x 19"W x 25"H ## Images ![Catit Smartsift - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51EP1YbPrRL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Style** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: Do you have to use there bags or can you use like a plastic target or walmart bag?** A: I use standard 13 gallon kitchen trash bags in the bottom drawer and no linertia in the top at all. Of course I also use small crystal litter which doesn't stick to the plastic as bad as clumping would (if you do this, you'll want to add a strip of duckt tape along the front edge of the part that faces downward when you raise the handle--that is designed to allow some litter to drop down into the bottom tray to help with odor control, but with fine grains, you loose A LOT of litter unless you tape it). Best labor saver I've ever had though, and I've tried all the robotic boxes except the genie and the litter robot. **Q: Can i know how big is it? If it will fit a Maine Coon.** A: I have a 8 lb. tabby and a 14 lb. tabby/Maine coon mix. It is just a tad small for our maine coon, but he seems to do okay in it. I've had this box for about a week and he's been using it fine. However, I don't believe a full-bred Maine coon would fit at all. **Q: Can "crystal" cat litter be used? I've never understood if crystals are considered to be clumping litter, but it's all we've ever used. This seems like a great litter box, but I'd hate to switch our 15-year old kitty to a completely different kind of litter.** A: Yes, I use Petco’s SoPhresh Odor Lock crystal litter in this box and it works really well as long as I don’t try to sift the box right after my cats have peed in it— you need to give the litter a little time to absorb it. It’s nice not having to dislodge clumping litter from the sifting grate like I did when I used clumping clay. I have two cats and find I need to change out the litter every two weeks. **Q: Why to huge huge price difference between buying one and buying two?** A: On the Catit website as of 4/7/2021 this product is $99.99. You can also purchase Recycled WOOD cat litter to work with this. Yay!! No more nasty particles in your cat's feet that he or she has to eat to clean off! ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent *by D***A on 10 September 2023* Same as described, but needs some precautions to work perfectly: 1- Don't exceed max level 2- slow rotation to remove lumps only. 3- must secure lower drawer nicely in place.
