Replaced failed existing Taco 006-B4 pump. The failed pump was 25 years old. Hope the new pump will last at least half that long. Easy replacement and at this time is doing the job.

My old 38 year old Taco circulator pump for my hot water holding tank finally met its demise. I did some research and found they no longer made the exact model to replace it. I decided to go with this model hoping it would work (price was worth the chance). Since the old pump had a vertical design and threaded fittings.. there was some redirection of the plumbing and had to sweat copper pipe into the pump itself. From that point unions, Pex, or Sharkbite fittings would all work fine. Once everything was in place and the tank was refilled with water I kicked on the power and was horrified that it didn't work at all. It was so quiet I didn't realize it was running over the sound of the boiler, until I put my hand on the motor and could feel it humming away. It works perfectly and keeps up with a long hot shower without any problems whatsoever. It has been almost 4 months since I installed it and it is still quiet as the day I installed it.

Failed after 5 months - quit circulating water. Tapping on pump body would get it working for a couple of days but it would quit again. Body of pump would get very hot when not circulating. Purchased and installed a new cartridge to repair. No evidence of contaminants internally.

After researching various pumps for a hot water circulation loop for my bathroom which is a long way from the water heater, I chose the Taco 006-B4 pump. This pump was also recommended by my good friend, the general manager for a plumbing company. It was easy to install and works great. I put the pump on a remote-wireless outlet so I can turn it on before I get into the shower and within 2-3 minutes I have instant hot water, turning it off after the shower. Previously, I had to let the water run for 2-3 minutes to get hot water. The pump is so quiet I have to put my hand on it to know that it is running. I would highly recommend this pump to anyone for a similar application.

Bought this to replace an existing pump, same model and brand which had worn out during a remodel where our contractor kept turning off the water to the house but not turning off this pump. It just burned out because it is designed to have water running through it. The pump works great and this replacement works flawlessly. They do get hot to the touch when running. But that is normal. Just remember to unplug this unit when your water will be turned off and it will last many years running 24/7.

They are very good pumps. My old 1/2" sweat pump has been working 24/7 for the last 10 years and its still going. When and if it fails I will replace it with this new 3/4"
