Terminator 6-Film Collection (DVD)

First, the audio and video production quality of all six of these Blu-ray movies is wonderful. Even dating back to 1984, they did a good job of remastering the audio and video. Certainly, the more recent editions in the series have higher quality audio and video because they employed better technologies when making the movies.I am a little disappointed on the production side of the case, however. Four of the discs are in a flaps on a spindle that was held in place by weak, thin plastic. Of course, a plastic clip snapped the first time I flipped the discs. Offsetting that to some extent is the cardboard cover, which goes over the plastic case, and it provides information about each movie in decent-sized type.Do not expect the discs to share themes or mapping: they seem to have been made by different people at different times. They have different menus, titles, text, and mapping to get to the extras. Also, one of the discs does not have any extras at all.It was only upon viewing the movies that I realized I had only seen three of the six in the series, so that was a pleasant surprise. If you like this genre of movies, then you'll like probably all of them but perhaps the one that does not include Arnold Schwarzenegger. Now that I have seen them all in order, I think it's important to view them in order to try to hold any logic and continuity in the series. Considering that we have different actors playing the same roles at different stages of their lives, through time travel, and through alternative timelines, the logic gets strained. But it's just science fiction, right? At about $4 per movie, that's not so bad.Actually, the most unexpected nugget comes in the way of AI. Back in 1984 when I saw the first Terminator, AI was quite clearly science fiction, and the turn of the century (or even 1997) seemed eons away. With today's reality of AI, the concerns about deployment are growing daily. Let that be the real warning from the Terminator series.

I am giving this five stars because I don't want the seller to be affected in any negative way. The product is great and in great condition.However, this was being 'shipped' by Amazon WITH Prime, and they took a week JUST to ship it. Then it took almost another week to be delivered. It arrived on the second to last expected 'latest day'. Why wasn't this at least shipped in under 48hrs when shipped from Amazon using Prime?For people who claim the films do not have special features, this is a misunderstanding. Every single film included has special features. What they lack are main menus. You can access the features while the movie is playing by opening up the menu, during. I've confirmed every advertised feature is available.

The Terminator six film collection is an entertaining journey through one of the most recognizable science fiction action franchises. My favorite of the six films is Terminator 2: Judgment Day because it has the strongest combination of action, emotion, memorable characters, and storytelling. The relationship between John Connor and the T 800 gives the movie a lot of heart, while the T 1000 remains one of the most memorable villains in science fiction. The film also builds on the original in a way that feels bigger and more ambitious without losing what made the first movie special.My least favorite of the six is Terminator Genisys. While it has some entertaining action sequences and Arnold Schwarzenegger brings plenty of personality to the role, the story becomes overly complicated with its alternate timelines and changes to established events. I also felt that some of the twists took away from the simplicity and impact of the earlier films. That said, I still enjoyed seeing familiar characters and ideas reimagined, and the movie has enough action and spectacle to make it worthwhile for fans of the franchise.Overall, I would give the six film Terminator collection four stars. The original Terminator remains a fantastic thriller, Terminator 2 is the standout and my personal favorite, and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator Salvation, and Terminator: Dark Fate each offer something different to the series. Even though not every film reaches the quality of the first two, the collection provides plenty of exciting action, iconic characters, time travel, and memorable science fiction moments. It is a solid collection for longtime fans and anyone who enjoys futuristic action movies for sure.

If you like the Terminator films there is nothing to say. If you don't like the Terminator films.......well, there's still nothing to say.

All 6 movies in the franchise, each on their own disc, with plenty of bonus features. The only thing missing is the unrated version of Salvation. I think it only added a couple of minutes, so big deal, but I'm surprised it was left out, considering there are 3 versions of T2.The menu (or lack of) on 4 of the films are kind of ridiculous. All those discs do it play the film, and you have to open a pop up menu where you can select special features while the movie is playing. It's easily the worst set up I have ever seen on a disc. I have no idea who thought that was a good idea, but they were very wrong. Anyway, I'm not going to dock points over it since the content itself is still fantastic. Every movie has a good amount of bonuses.Side note, and this is totally just personal opinion, but the sequels (3-6) are all better than I remember. I remember not liking Dark Fate when I saw it in theater, but revisiting it in this set, I really enjoyed it. The worst in the series is easily Genisys, and even that one has a pretty cool idea/story, I just didn't love the execution. It gets a bit too silly for my taste, and they really wasted Lee Byung-Hun. He looks cool, but has nothing interesting to do aside from attack a few times. Rise of the Machines and Salvation, I always enjoyed, so no new revelations there aside from they still hold up in my opinion.No need to comment on the first 2. Absolute classics, I don't think anyone would argue with that. The set is well worth the purchase if you're a fan of the series.
