Can anyone recommend any decent & free to use ssd cloning software if i wanted to copy across my existing drive to a large ssd when using this device?

Clonezilla (search the web) I have used Clonezilla many times and found it reliable. Recently I retired an Intel 250Gb drive onto a Crucial 500Gb device and my Windows 10 installation did not complain at all. I used the extra space for a Linux ext-4 partition in my dual-boot laptop. You will need a bootable USB stick or a DVD to run Clonezilla. You can simply clone your drive SSD or save/copy the contents into a series of archive files for disc-image backup. It sounds like you need a simple clone. There are two versions of Clonezilla on the website, I recommend that you use the i686 version with Intel cpus.

What are the speeds through the provided usb c cable?

I have not tested the speed of the cable, I used the enclosure to backup my O/S SSD to faster a SSD both Adata via USB 3.1 "C" and it seemed pretty quick. I like the latch arrangement, saves losing the small screw. Bottom line, if you find the cable too slow or too short (unlikely) buy another one.

Does this enclosure support the crucial p3 2tb nvme? on the specifications, it states p2/p5.... thanks in advance
