I have owned a 2000 Toyota Tundra since 2004. Both key fasteners on my remotes fell apart at least 8 years ago. The remotes still functioned, it just no longer connected to my key chain. Since replacement remotes seemed to be unavailable or incredibly expensive, I've relied on a makeshift carrier for my functioning remote, which has served me well. However, last week I got online and was surprised to find that these "shells" were now available. I call them shells, because that's what they are. I decided to give them a try, and if they didn't work, I would be sending them right back to Amazon the same day. Nothing to lose, so I ordered a 2-pack. Anyway, they arrived so I sat down and disassembled my old ones, and these new ones. The "guts" of my old remotes FIT INSIDE PERFECTLY! Seriously, perfectly. I just had to take out the old circuit board and basically lay it into the new shell, and screw the new case back together. It worked right away. No programming needed because nothing electronic had been changed. Now the remote looks brand new. It's about time someone realized that there's a bunch of Toyota's still on the road that use these old style remotes. A tip of the cap to Toyota.

over the years I have bought 3 of these. work great. I only have 1 working key fobs circuit board. So fingers crossed it keeps working. Don't want to program a new one. This take old little board. Just a new protective shell. Thanks

exact fit for the internals of my original fobs. I got these because my others had broken where the chain attaches to the plastic fob, so they were loose in my pocket or I would forget them. The new ones I received only has 1 chain included for 2 fobs. The chain is pretty thin compared to the original and it broke after a week. I put it back together with a couple pairs of very small needle nose pliers. After some doing I was able to reattach the chain links and squeeze the link back. 2 days later it broke again at a different link. Thankfully I saved the original chain and have now installed it on the new fob. It's much stouter than the new one. see the attached photo. So I took off 2 stars as the fob is a great fit but the chain is crap, and I only got 1 crap chain.
