Great service; good quality - fast delivery
I made a mistake in my order to house of worktops. The amazon page lists oiled and unoiled worktops alongside each other; and unfortunately its difficult to order multiples or variations after you have customised the worktop. This isnt the fault of HOW rather amazon's site could do with a tweak - if you are ordering multiple worktops take care to check they are all the same. The good news is HOW checked the order HOW called and asked if that was correct; and a few minutes later we had corrected my order. This maybe should cost a star; but the service was so friendly I didn't. The day of delivery wasn't forewarned; but it took 4 days from order to delivery.;My worktops were delivered by two friendly drivers - in HOW parka's - before 9am on a Sunday. They did send me a text message to say delivery was happening which included live tracking; only it was 90 minutes before delivery. Not ideal solution. The worktops themselves shipped in just a plastic wrap without any edge protection but they were in perfect condition. I ordered them to act as a desk; so had all the edges rounded and the edges and all the surfaces have lovely smooth finish. The oil does give them a darker color which I like; it should also protect against the inevitable spill. I did't buy mine for the kitchen; but when the time comes to replace my kitchen I might get the full stave version.

Lovely piece of wood!
Delivery was great as it had a tracker, it might be nice to know how many stops before.Overall the wood is fantastic. There are a few places where there are imperfections in the wood and wood glue had been used to fill in some gaps. I had a rounded edge, the one edge was a bit pitted so I put that up against the wall. I oiled and sanded myself and finished with 240 grit and it is really smooth.

All the promise of being great but let down in a few areas.
Based on the price and reviews already posted so far for these worktops from House of Worktops, I decided to give them a go for a 2mx720mmx40mm worktop without oil pre-applied. I was then going to apply Osmo to it and finish it myself as a sit/standing desk. The ordering process was pretty painless without any issues and was recommended to go for edge profiling.Delivery was a bit trickier as I was moving into a new flat on a specific date and ideally wanted it delivered on that date or soon afterwards, but House of Worktops have their own delivery vans which deliver once a week so didn't get much choice in the matter. Either way, on the day of delivery we were kept up to date with where the order was which was great. To the actual delivery itself, the guys managed to park with the sliding door in a hedge. I get the impression they are very stretched for time with the deliveries as they didn't bother moving it but instead rushed and tried to get it over the hedge to the flat doors. As the worktop is only wrapped in thin cling film it left a lot marking when the desk hit against the frame of the van. Fortunately the majority of this was able to be sanded out (with a lot of effort!). It was also probably somewhere in the T's&C's, however after they got the worktop into the block of flats, it was promptly dropped on the floor and they left before I could ask any questions.Anywho.. After getting the desk inside I could inspect it. There were quite a few areas which I'm not very happy with. Namely, where staves join on the edges, lots of them are unfilled and require filling, sanding etc. The worktop edges were quite battered particularly on one corner, again this could mostly be sanded out, but it all adds up to a ton of prep time. The biggest annoyance is that one side of it was completely ruined by what looks like a ton of filler that's been slapped over one of the staves. It's incredibly unsightly, and unfortunately means I was left with hoping the other side was in a good enough condition to use. Fortunately it was and after yet more prep, then coating in Osmo PolyX, I'm happy enough with it. There is the odd imperfection that I know about which couldn't be fixed (strangely one end of it is bowing along the short edge), but overall it does look good and I can live with it.I think if I had had more time and didn't need a desk to be able to work I likely would have asked for a replacement.

Arrived today but horrible delivery
The delivery clearly said doorside delivery and when it came to it, they arrived at 7am on Saturday and said come down as we are leaving it downstairs. By the time I was down to discuss they had left.Doorside means that they will leave the stuff in front of the door. Doesn’t mean it would be left in the proche and made me to carry alone a 40-50kg slab.
