Gentle Grammar: Level 2

I have been homeschooling for over 20 years. As a mom of six (three graduated), I have used every early grammar program out there. Gentle Grammar is the perfect grammar approach for young children. I have always taught my children using this method, but Gentle Grammar takes all of the work out of it for me.The layout is simple and easy to understand, and the illustrations are endearing. The thing that I like most about this curriculum is that it doesn't just teach grammar, but it teaches your child how to think for themselves. My son enjoys creating his own sentences rather than always having the sentence provided for him. The amount of writing required is not overwhelming and is just right for my eight-year-old.The lessons take very little time (10 minutes or so), and yet so many skills are taught during this time. They are the perfect complement to McGuffey's readers for a complete language arts curriculum through the elementary years.There are very few "terms" used in these books. Terms are difficult for children to grasp and remember. Gentle Grammar takes advantage of the natural ways that children learn and makes the best use of the precious early years.Gentle Grammar lays a solid foundation of grammar skills which children will easily be able to build on later. If your child completes all four level of Gentle Grammar, they will be ready for a formal grammar course in middle school, such as Simply Grammar or Harvey's Grammar.I love all of Sherry's products, and they all work together wonderfully. They make my homeschooling easier and simpler while helping me to focus on the most important aspects of my children's education.

It's truly simple!! At first I was questioning if it would help or teach anything. However, my student has benefitted from it greatly. The most exciting thing is we just do a page a day. We are then able to do so much more hands on learning and not fret over the more formal learning.

We love this program. It is so gentle that you are just learning how to write well with ease. Instead of doing a bunch of lessons about what a noun is etc. you write your own sentences with their prompts and help. I am working through this with a 4th grader and he can do it on his own. He loves looking back at all the sentences he had written and reading them to me. Writing is a great subject this year with this book!

Well made, easy to follow, perfect for a minimalist approach but thorough enough for kids to grasp grammar
