Speck Products Samsung Galaxy S7 Case, CandyShell Grip Case (White/Black), Military-Grade Protective Case

This is my third Speck case for a phone. I had one on my previous Galaxy, and i have one on the iPhone I use for work. I keep coming back to this one b/c I think this is a great case. Great features: - Fit: this fits my galaxy S7 perfectly (and the properly sized ones similarly fit my S4 and my iPhone 5c well as well). They go on fairly easily, can be removed with the right amount of effort (I don't want to say 'easily' because you don't want this cover to come off easily). - Protection: this is a sturdy case. Now, I'm very careful with my phone and it doesn't see much in the way of drops but I feel like this case would provide moderate protection from a drop. I also like that the rubber rim on the front of the phone is slightly raised, allowing me to put my phone face down on a table (in meetings or when dining with other people) without the glass touching the table surface. Feel: two elements of the feel of this are great: 1) it's lightweight, not adding too much to the heft of the smartfphone; 2) the rubber 'grips' on the case make it really easy to grip my phone, even if my hands are damp or sweaty - they are a big part of keeping me from dropping the phone. They also provide a little bit of traction when the phone's in a pocket, helping it not to fall out as easily (that can be a disadvantage if you're trying to get your phone out of a tight pocket quickly, but it's worth it for the added security against slipping out) - Note - the cover I have for my iPhone does not have the rubber grips - it's more sleek, and maybe a little easier to slide out of a pocket, but I prefer the grippy kind for all the reasons stated. Size: this case gives a good balance between protection and added bulk on the phone. yes it adds to the dimensions of the phone - width, height, and depth, but not as much as some cases. For my purposes, it's perfect. Colors: there are quite a few cool colors for this case - i'm boring - my old one was black with gray, and this one is white with black with white. the white has stayed remarkably white - really doesn't hold smudges or oils at all. I looked at the pink/teal and a few other combos, but just couldn't see pulling those out in a meeting with customers. But I'm sure they are just as color-true and smudgeless All in all - i will likely buy a speck case for every smartphone i have for the foreseeable future.

This is definitely a nice case, but there is a huge caveat to choosing this style of a case: You probably won't find a tempered GLASS partial cover (it would have to be a partial cover or this type of case, where the phone pops in it like a socket) that will work. I've searched high and low for a tempered glass screen protector that conforms with the curved circumference of the screen of my Galaxy S7 and other than a few that are full coverage which will not work with this type of case, there is NOTHING, that is WHY so many screen protectors get bad reviews, they can't seem to make a curved screen protector that doesn't break but made of glass that will coexist with any case of this type of phone insertion. The case is wonderful, the ribs are rubbery and will very much help prevent you dropping the phone and protecting it, hopefully, in a fall. The four corners are not raised rubber though it looks like it, that might be good though. The inside part of this glove cover is a hard foamy material. The look in real life is good, you might like the other color schemes more, but this looks techy and suits me and cost a little less. The phone is a tight fit and a little difficult to pop/slide in, but it is very secure. The front has a raised edge that will help to protect in a fall except if the center of the screen itself hits a protruding object, in that type scenario, a book style case would be better and there is one that has an LCD screen that is cool but a bit more costly (and you wouldn't have as much need for a tempered glass screen protector). A book-style case will always be a better choice on some levels such as protection, of course. A word on Screen protectors: ONLY Tempered GLASS really protects a glass phone screen. There are two types of plastic "protectors" (read up on it) but they don't really protect against impacts, only scratches. All screen covers are meant to work sacrificially, where they break rather than your very hard and expensive to replace phone screen. So basically, the best choice for me would be a book type cover/protector, but I cannot afford it and this is at least a very good product, the best I've seen so far for me.

These cases are very durable and do a really good job at protecting your phone as they are supposed to. The soft inner core takes care of shock while the outer hard shell provides protection against blunt forces. The rim of the case extents outward about 2 mm so if your phone happens to fall face down it is slightly elevated off the ground helping prevent your screen from taking a hit. The case is also lined on the outside with the same rubber that is on the inside that helps your phone stay put on a smooth surface and makes it much easier to keep a hold of. Over time, the outer ribs sometimes start to come off but it really isn't an issue. Occasionally I take my phone out of the case to clean both the case and the phone, just glass cleaner or a multi-surface cleaner, and it doesn't hurt the case at all. The cases have always fit just right over the phones I have had them on and don't get loose. They come off easy enough but would never fall off or get loose on their own or while dropping or something like that. Great case.

Nice and strong case, almost too sturdy to get onto the phone but it fits, and quite snuggly at that. Have dropped my phone plenty of times in this case already and my phone has yet to receive any damage. The stripes on the back of the protector are not just painted on but are actual additional pieces of rubber that have been glued onto the case. This gives the case a cool feel and added grip, however, it also means that since they have been added on top of the case, they can also come off. A very tiny section of one of the stripes on my case has started to come up and I ended up just ripping the extended part off because it started to get a little annoying sticking out from the case and tickling my hand. Again though, the part that came off was tiny, only about a quarter or half centimeter or so, but after leaving it like that over time, more and more of the piece started to one off. Once I ripped off the part that was sticking out, the rest of the stripe has remained glued down and has not come up since. Other than that the case is very strong and sturdy, comfortable to hold, and isn't too sticky or have too much grip to where it can make it hard to pull out of certain pockets. Just enough grip to hold onto well, but not enough to make it grip onto the inside of your pockets. So, this is definitely a great case and I would recommend it to anyone looking for something to protect their phone from drops. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because of the end of the stripe coming off, but all of the other stripes are still securely glued on and I think that the one that has started to slightly peel off could possibly just be a fluke.

June 4, 2018 Update - Finally bit the big one with this case. Had this case a little over one year since I purchased this (April 2017). I was running wildly with my sister's dog and my phone flung out of my pocket and bounced hard on a very hard gravel surface. It then bounced off the gravel a couple of times and once on some concrete surface surrounding a metal grating. The edges of the case has split in all four corners, two corners very badly split. My phone however, is still in pristine condition. Since my last update before this very destructive drop I've already dropped my phone a few more times (from about 1-3 feet but not on hard gravel / concrete but hardwood floors / tile floors indoors). As for getting a replacement I'm definitely going to get two more of these cases as a replacement. Another thing to note is I almost always stuff my phone into my jean's front pocket and so far, none of the little grippy parts has rubbed off or even slightly deteriorated. I suggest everyone purchase from SPECK as the seller on amazon as I have read that there are third party amazon sellers that sell fake speck cases. May 1, 2018 Update - Have dropped my phone numerous times since the last update (at least 10 more drops). I've had my phone drop and bounce off the floor and had no damage to my phone. The case is a little scuffed but that's to be expected, it survived some pretty bad drops/bounces. I'm describing everyday drops from it falling out of my pockets (jeans/coats/jackets) while running a few times and had it dropped/bouncing onto pavement, concrete sidewalks, gravel roads and hardwood flooring, my phone is protected and the rubber things on the case is still perfectly intact on mine but again scuff to the plastic parts (as expected and I'm very satisfied with the protection). Original Review: I waited until I've used this for a while before posting. It's been about 3 months of use and I have dropped this multiple times (I count about 6 I can remember) at varying heights. A couple times I dropped my phone right on hard concrete pavement (puppy was pulling on leash as I was walking her) and it bounced on the pavement but still my phone had zero damage with this case. With all the drops so far I have gotten zero damage on my phone and screen, however I am also using a tempered glass screen protector and the screen protector has not cracked/broken yet either. I was a little bit worried about how the rubbery parts would hold up reading reviews here as I always put the phone in my front pocket. Even when walking for over an hour everyday (walking puppy) I have had no problems with any of the rubbery parts falling or rubbing off so I'm not sure why some people have that issue. I'd repurchase again since I have dropped the phone many times and it has protected my phone well. If with longer use the case starts to fall apart, I'll update this review but thus far, no sign of anything negative.

As of today, August 2nd, my case is still holding up. I have dropped it a few times and the corners have some cracking, but my phone is still perfect. The rubber grips on the case haven't started coming off yet. I honestly don't understand any negative reviews on this case. The case has some cracking from being dropped and none of the cracks have gone all the way through. It's been dropped on cement and it still protected my phone. I absolutely recommend this case. I just wanted to update my review now that I've had it for a while. *Update* The case fits great, my phone feels snug and secure and it was easy to get in the case. I like the feel of it, feels like it won't slip out of my hand. I haven't dropped it and have no idea how it will hold up to that? I like the colors too, very true to the picture. I have no complaints and would recommend it. In fact, my son has the same brand case for his iPhone, which is why I gave it a try, and his has held up just fine and has been dropped. The rubber gripes on the back of his are coming off now, but he's had it for a while and doesn't take the best care of it.

I've used this Speck CandyShell Grip case on multiple devices. It simply provides the best features and build quality that I would want in a phone case. I really enjoy the feel in the hand and the ability to place my phone on a slanted surface without it falling off. The grips really do great for their purpose. Also, they're made of a matte material that really doesn't hold onto lint or much else and I really appreciate that on the pristine white/black color. The case definitely has a tight fit on the S7, but I never feel like I have to force anything to the point of damaging the case or the device, and I think this is really great for keeping dirt and dust out from between the case and phone. Overall, speck makes great quality cases and this design is definitely my favorite. While the price is a little high, it's well worth the price in terms of its durability and protective ability for my S7.

Fits the Galaxy S7 like a glove. This is both a good thing and a bad thing, as it means trying to take this case off is quite difficult and requires a bit of manhandling both for the phone and the case. But because it's a tight fit, it protects the edges of the phone from water and moisture getting in. The buttons and ports align in the holes pretty well. The raised edge on the front of the case helps with protecting the screen when placing the phone face-down on a surface. The inside and the "purple parts" are silicon/rubberized so it is grippy and "soft", while the outside (white part) is a hard shell. Its a fairly thin case - maybe not as thin as cheaper hardshell cases available, but it is also not bulky like an otterbox or dual-layered case. So it probably would not protect it from a large drop, but it will at least prevent any scratches and damages from a relatively short drop (i.e. from a standard table, bed, etc.). Overall, very please with the cost and quality of this case!

Had a speck on my iphone 5 previously too. Great case that offers decent grip as without a case my s7 was always slipping out of my hand. Feels well made and good quality. But not too bulky that it becomes a hindrance. Worth the buy.
