I did not attempt downloading the phone app via wifi--because it sounded complicated so just used the control box at the end of the AC cord on the item to control the pre-set functions. One string was perfect in length for my real 4 1/2 feet tall Xmas tree and am thrilled with the quality for the low $20 price. Though I am using these lights indoors, I noticed each light has a heavy duty weather resistant covering which I am sure would make them durable for outside use.

The media could not be loaded. These Popotan Smart String Lights are perfect. They're functional for both indoor and outdoor use and have a multitude of settings for colors, patterns, speed and brightness. You can control the lights using the remote control (included), the control panel on the plug, or by downloading the Popotan app for your phone or tablet. Downloading the app also allows you to sync music up to them as well.Great for a bedroom, Christmas tree, holiday wreath, outdoor patio, and more. The button to turn the lights on, on on the actual string, had to be pushed very hard to get the light to even turn on. The remote never connected with the lights. We could never use it. However, it connected with the app once I installed it on my phone. The remote would change the settings in the app on my phone. However, neither would ever connect with the lights alone or together. Some of the lights had a weird flicker to them and none of the programs ever worked. Junk. Returned them. Very disappointed to say the least.

The media could not be loaded. Waited a couple years to make sure I reviewed these fairly. Definitely a great buy. Ive been switching my whole house to smart led's over the past 2 years and these have definitely been worth their weight in gold. They withstood a move and 2 toddlers over the post 2 years. Plus, they were easy to set up and use with google home 🤓

The Popotan 33ft wifi outdoor lights were a great answer to "Can you put up Halloween lights?"I didn't want to install separate strings of lights for each holiday. The Popotan lights let me install the lights on the house once, then dial in the colors for the holiday. I ended up with 3 strings to enhance the front of my house.I have not tested the audio capabilities of the lights yet.ProsEasy to install. Plug the sections together, and plug into an outlet.Wifi connectivity with the Tuya app (Android) was simple for 3 strings of lights. 2ghz only.The color range is quite wide.ConsThe remote control is easy to use, but requires close proximity to the controller on the power cord.Even on the brightest lamp setting, the LEDs are colorful, but not dazzling. They can be difficult to see in the daylight.The Tuya phone app is missing key features found on the handheld RC. Things like slow/fast would be reaaaaly helpful.You cannot select more than 1 color for a solid light set. Orange/Purple as shown on the web page is not available with the handheld or phone app.Price: The price almost doubled since an October 2023 purchase. The new price does not match the feature sets available with similar products.

I actually love the lights a lot, however couple of things that spoiled it for me:1. The remote that came with them was not the same as shown on the picture in product description. It was much smaller and with the fewer functions on it (only 3 color choices, red green and blue). After seeing pictures from the other customers that seems to have received the proper remote - I am very disappointed with it. 2. After only several hours of use (used in one mode, not even touching any controls), one of the lights started malfunctioning. Seems like it has lost an ability to light green and, as a result, would fall out of sync with the other lights when used in color-changing pattern. May not be a big deal for some, but EXTREMELY annoying for me. Very noticeable and bothersome. See the attached pictures.The good things:- Very Bright and colorful light. Even hurts your eyes a little, if you stare directly at the bulbs.- Have multiple color patterns built in. Can be used with the remote without the need of app installation.- The bulbs and wire seems to be well built and weatherproof. The control box is NOT waterproof, so keep that in mind.- USB cable allows it to use any portable battery to power the lights, so you can take them camping with no problems. Love that feature!

I'd been looking for a set of lights like this for ages, and even this model's predecessor wasn't able to perform as I needed. These do exactly that, as I can change the colors (as many as I want in the string) to rotate based on seasonal colors. The only thing I'd change is to have more than six settings available in memory, as that's the limit.

Purchased 3 boxes of this item. The main reason was because of the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities. Neither work at all and will not pair with the app to your phone. Tried for 2 hrs. Disappointing. Only reason I purchased.The lights are installed outside. You may think Wi-Fi outside. I have many items using Wi-Fi and we stream all our cable TV, hulu, 3 computers. Wi-Fi is super strong.Forget WI-FI would be happy with Bluetooth. No go. Won’t pair. Won’t pair to iPhone 13 pro when standing right by the box to push the button to pair as you follow the directions.Remotes work but still taking myself outside to change the light pattern as I have always done. No big deal but for the fact I purchased an item to specifically avoid this.No not sending back. On the house. My wife wanted lights up and she’s got them.These are lights with a remote. Period
