This strainer is great. I regularly use it to wash short-grain and jasmine rice, and not a single grain passes through. I've even used for steaming rice (inside of a very large stock pot), and it performed perfectly.Plus, it is really quite rust resistant. I forgot it once, for about a week, inside a pot half-filled with starchy rice water. And not a single spot of rust anywhere! I was pretty surprised, and it's a testament to the quality of steel and fabrication.

I did like it a lot until after just 2-3 uses, the handle broke. The handles are attached at two spots and on one side, the handle has already come loose. It's still attached (probably not for long) but it sticks out. Also, it arrived with the ring bent into the bowl but it was easy to push back out.

Nice colander! Just didn't meet my specific need - Quinoa.
This colander had reviews stating that quinoa could be rinsed in this, so I bought it! Unfortunately, I was looking to use it to rinse raw quinoa. While the majority of it stayed in the colander, a good portion (~30%) fell through the holes. As such, this isn't meeting my needs. I am keeping it though as I like how wide it is and will use it for veggies and fruits and COOKED quinoa.

Fine strainer, just useless for quinoa
Fine strainer, just useless for quinoa. Despite what the title and description say, it falls straight through.I was hoping to stop using mesh strainers for quinoa but the search continues.

WASH... might be some metal slivers but AWESOME SIEVE
Perfect and exactly what I needed in my kitchen to strain the dissolved bones from the broth: once through as is and then again with the cheese cloth and its done. Great size. Handles are a bit small and don't stick out to get a good overhang on the kettle for bowl you are straining into. But its GOOD. WARNING... I got a metal sliver washing it the first time before using it. All them holes you know... so certainly there might be tiny bits of metal. WASH BEFORE USING just as it says to do.

Sturdy construction and it has a nice smooth finish
Sturdy construction and it has a nice smooth finish. I haven't used it yet, but I really like the small holes all over it. Spaghetti should drain quickly and none will fall out of the holes. This 5 quart unit was only 50 cents more than a similarly designed 3.5 quart colander on Amazon. The shipment arrived on the expected day, so I am totally satisfied.

Perfect colander
I've had this colander for over a year now, waiting to see if it rusted before I reviewed it. The holes are small enough that I can rinse quinoa without losing it all down the sink. It's big enough to easily hold a pound of cooked pasta. I've taken it into the garden to pick strawberries. Haven't found a downside yet.
