3oaks Survival Mountaineer Inner Locking Wood Handle Pocket Knife with Thumb Stud

I received the 3 oaks knife at a discounted price for my honest review! This knife is made really well! It is medium duty so its not super light weight! It has a lock feature so no worries about the blade just opening or closing by itself! The blade came with a pretty sharp edge! I was able to cut the box it was shipped in with ease! My son has been messing around with it also. Shaving lil branches to a point and the edge seems to be holding up pretty nicely! I find it is a perfect size, not too big not too small! Fits perfect in the pocket! Im sure my boy will be using this knife on all his camping trips! I would recommend this knife!

Knife appears to be well made and cuts well. I wish it were a little more slim lined and lighter as I typically wear dress pants. It is a good knife for someone that wears jeans on a regular occasion. I put a whet stone to it and sharpened it a touch more than it came and seems to be holding well.

The knife came with an ok edge on it, not shaving sharp but adequate for cutting up the amazon box that it came it without any difficulty. The shaft lock looks identical to an axis lock and survived several spine whacks with out failing and functions smoothly though not as good as a real axis lock there is a greater degree of force required to push the lock back. Also after a few openings the ridges around the lock cut out began to hurt my thumb so that's kind of a problem. I took the knife apart shortly after receiving it and found it to be surprisingly well made the axis lock knock off looks close to a real one just much less polished. The stop pin on mine is solid not hollow like some other knives. The pivot washers appear to be phosphor bronze or something visually and functionally similar to it. The pocket clip doesn't appear to have a slot for any sort of bit that I have but came of easily enough using a pair of pliers. I would not call the clip screw a window breaker so much as a slightly pointy domed screw, I suppose it would work well enough but so would any other part of the knife. Overall the knife is comfortable to hold, cuts better than the thick spine would indicate and is well made.

I received this knife yesterday and was excited to find what appears to be a high quality item. The blade is very sharp and locks open very firmly. Closing the knife requires a little effort but that is my preference. The wooden handle is beautiful and feels good in my hand, and fits well in my pocket. This appears to be a real high quality knife , I will enjoy carrying this knife for many years. I received this knife at a discount to do a honest and unbiased review.
