Versatile pot that can go from oven to table
I really like the versatility of this Wilton Armetale Gourmet Grillware Chili Pot. Despite being marketed as a "chili pot", it can be used to cook anything and even go in the oven or stovetop. I roasted a chicken with it, for example, this weekend (1 hour at 450°F). The fins make the pot easy to handle and the high walls ensure that oil and juices don't splatter too much. Of course, this depends on what you're cooking and how much you've filled the pot. I was careful to allow enough of a "moat" around the chicken to catch the oil because I hate cleaning the inside of the oven.Being able to go straight from the oven to the dining table is a big plus for me. It means one less thing to wash. I put the pot on round cork coasters to protect our table. (Do be careful as the pot will stay hot to the touch for some time.)Sometimes I use the pot just for serving purposes when we have guests over (noodles, fried rice). It's not super pretty or decorative, but it's at least good looking enough to be displayed. The only complaint I have is the lid handle. It's not one piece, but screwed on at the bottom. You can see it plainly from the underside. It looks like a regular wall screw and none too attractive! The pot is easy to clean (may require soaking overnight for burnt on food).

Hot! Hot! Hot!
Kinda light weight for this sort of pot. Barely four quarts. But the big selling point is that it can withstand really high temperatures. We made my famous 'Have The Fire Department Standing By' chili on the outdoor Genesis grill with it and it can get pretty darn hot under that hood upwards of 500 degrees (only half what this pot is rated at) but this pot stood up to it with nary a burp. My chili takes about four hours and I was very pleased with the end result. I've had to line pans with double layers of heavy duty foil before to keep the chili from burning and sticking but this pot held the heat within pretty steady without burning the bottom and leaving that layer of black goop that the Fire Department hauls away (I hope you understand high mountain humor). It's not too heavy for my old arthritic hands to hold and the lid fits snug and has a metal handle that takes the heat just as well. This would be good for those dishes that need high heat in the oven too. Just wish they'd make an 8 quart one!!!Highly recommend.Any problems I'll come back and lower the rating and rewrite the review.

Small, but cooks great
I was shocked at how well this cooked. I am a cast iron enthusiast. We use cast iron as much as possible for cooking. I grew up with it and love the heavy weight and heat retention on cast iron. When I received this box, I was initially surprised at how light the oven is. This made me skeptical as to how well it would really cook. I decided to make some Italian meatballs in this oven and use my grill. The cookware did a great job, so much so that I added some carrots, celery and onions, and let them sweat for a few minutes. I then added some chicken broth and spinach, and made Italian Wedding soup.Clean up was easy. Probably because the broth removed anything stuck to the bottom. I have also put chicken pieces in this pot and for clean up I just soaked it for about 15 mins and everything came up.Armetale is an aluminum alloy. The company has said their process has been FDA tested and approved. If you have any concerns about cooking with aluminum, keep that in mind. Otherwise, this is a surprisingly great pot. I wish it was bigger though

Indestructible, stays hot, wipes clean, and a great size
I used this on the charcoal grill to make some chili and I had some truly incredible results. I did all of the cooking directly on the grill (starting with sauteing the meat and onions) and kept the chili on the grill for hours. The resulting chili was smoky deliciousness, and my kids claimed it was the best chili I'd ever made. The size of the pot is big enough for a good amount of food: my recipe served 8, and even before all the liquids had boiled off, I wasn't worried about it overflowing and I had room to stir. As the ad copy boasts, the pot kept its heat for an astonishingly long time; like nearly an hour later (at least) I almost burned myself by brushing against it. I've honestly never seen anything like it. It seems to be naturally nonstick, too, since I had no problem at all with food sticking, and it washed clean with a few simple swipes of the sponge. This pot has now expanded the kind of cooking I can do on the grill, which I find really exciting. I like to cook outdoors in the summer as much as possible, and now I can do a whole new repertoire of foods.

Great looking, heat tolerant chili pot!
We like this lidded pot. In the summertime, my husband grills everything he can and this has allowed him to expand his repertoire. He loves chili and makes a lot of it. This pot has the look and the features he wants most. The appearance is almost medieval, like the photograph but better. The shine is mellower and less artificial. The ability to withstand high heat, the comfortable handles, and the close-fitting lid are the best qualities. The worst is that it can't be washed in the dishwasher. But as others have mentioned, a good soaking makes clean-up fairly simple.
