The first time I saw these panels, they were attached to the floor of a library. You can definitely hang them on a wall. People of all ages are compelled to interact with these panels. You could frame them without glass, or use strong Velcro.

Would a 22 pound child be able to make the colors change when stepping on them?

Yep! The more they are used the looser the inside stuff gets you can press your hand on it and it’ll move.
