Caran d'AchePaint Tubes, Gouache Studio, 12 Colors, Pack of 1

I bought my first Caran D'ache studio set a couple of years ago and after receiving the tubes and trying them I can only marvel at the quality and accuracy of the hues, they are exactly the same as the pans from my set. This set is fantastic, I like the ability to have the gouache in tubes and pans, sometimes depending on the project you need more paint and the tubes work faster. I would like to say that the Studio set, both in tubes as this one, and the pan set, are of different quality than the Fancolor, therefore the difference in price. I have both.This Studio set is like professional gouache, the texture is of paint like goauche. The fancolor set is more for children, the colors are brilliant but also the texture and consistency feels like there is cornstarch made into mousse (yes, as in chocolate mousse), you can pour a good amount of water and it goes through, dries right away. It makes sense for children because they will pull paint from the pans straight into the paper. Adults more into painting more seriously or pre professional might not appreciate this. This Studio set is not only affordable but of such high quality I always refill them first before I move on to professional paints. It's that good.Gouache paints all differ in their transparency and opaqueness, even on this brand. I had to learn that you must mix small amounts of white to start off and then find your way to the pure color. It only takes a little bit of white to show them opaque. Noteworthy goods send the product, no dings, perfect condition.The amount of color is amazing, I hope others enjoy them too!

Tubes of gouache.. beautiful colors, easy to use, good buy always from aquarelle

Really lovely. Creamy, saturated colors. Did a quick 5-minute painting to try it out. I wanted to see if the brush was any good and it did well making fine lines. Had to work it a little to get it less transparent, but I like that. Mixes well and has a good selection of colors. I use my neocolor II’s a lot and have yet to get anything from this company that isn’t top grade.

Not as good as Winsor and Newton Designer Gouaches but it is still great paint.I love that it doesn't crack. Some colors of my other Gouaches do crack.This set is a good opaque paint. It lays down thinner than Winsor and Newton Designer Gouaches but almost as opaque. This definitely better than Reeves Gouaches. I will use these colors with my Winsor and Newton Gouache. These are bright colors not dull or muddy at all. I took the picture 3 days after it dried and it has not cracked at all like other Gouaches. It's a matte finish when dry.At 40 dollars for 12 tubes it is a steal (that's 3.34 per tube). My Winsor and Newton Designer Gouaches are about 10 12 dollars per tube for 14 ml. This set comes with 10ml which is a great deal.The brush it comes with is nylon (I think) but it can be used. I have brushes that work better.

I was unfamiliar with Caran DAche but I went ahead and purchased the set for the metal tin as it is the only one I could find for tubes, rather than for pans. It is a large case (I dont have a measuring tape but it looks to be about 11x9 inches when open). The plastic tray I easily removed by lightly pressing in against the shorter side while lifting if you want extra mixing surface but the underside is metal gray, not the white of the lid if that matters to you. The case seems well built and the plastic tray, obviously the weak point since it is plastic, is not flimsy plastic so I think the whole thing will long outlast the paint. The underside of the card paper that wrapped around the case holds the color chart. I am very happy with the quality of the case and am looking forward to learning about the quality of the paint.

This is much better and easier to work with vs himi miya jelly gouache, in my opinion. A little goes a long way depending on how it's used, and the colors I mixed were really pretty. Even the watercolor style washes i did were richly pigmented and didn't require layer after layer after layer. Highly recommend!

This is my next set I have purchased. As I mentioned before - very creamy pigments. Reactivate with water fast. Have all colors for any work. Most Illustrations and designers good to have it. Not so expensive artists gouash.

The product was shrink wrapped, but most of the tubes of paint in the set had finger indents on them - actual dents in the tube the size of fingers that are a clear indication that they had been opened and used previously. The paint colors were also quite diluted; some separation can occur because that is the nature of gouache paints, but even once I had more paint in my tray and mixed it the paint was still diluted. With two coats of paint the colors were still washed out and more reminiscent of watercolor. I have heard great things about Caran D'Ache and I am struggling to believe that this is the actual quality of a brand new set of their paint. I believe that I either received a used item that was re-wrapped or a fake item. Unfortunately this was a waste of money. I am going to have to buy the paint directly from the manufacturer to make sure that I have the real thing.
