Jake has done it again. As someone who was born and raised in the Appalachian mountains, it is refreshing to read something that I connect to on such a level. This is a perfect combination of storytelling and practical advice. 👌

I found this book while looking for something else and I’m glad I did. Very good read. Although the man grew up around a different type of folk magic it is very similar to Hoodoo and it utilizes what you have to gain a better foothold in the world. Lots of info that if you grew up down south you might be familiar with already.

Love everything about this book, and the others from this author. Growing up in the Appalachian mountains is something I take pride in. I wasn't fortunate enough to have grandparents who wanted to share the family secrets with me. I was too young, but Jake Richards has opened that door for me. I have learned a lot through his books.

I love this book. My family has practiced this way of life for generations and I was hooked due to Jake’s writing style. So many other authors have tried to make books on this topic and it seems so boring to read through, but with Jake’s books on the topic never disappoint. He makes things interesting and explains the culture and the “why” of things for a better understanding. He’s authentic, and genuine in his approach and an amazing story teller!
