Excellent tool at a good price
At the last minute in a project, I discovered some of my stash of cypress material was too short. Never having used a finger joint bit before, I chose this one because it was the lowest cost, but had good reviews. I set it up on my router table and carefully noted the positions of the teeth relative to the table surface, then using scrap of the same cypress material made the required two passes - one with the face side up on one piece, and the other with the face side down on the second piece. Testing the joint, it was near perfect and required no adjustment of the bit height. I proceeded to 'stretch' the rest of the required stock, with excellent results. It is important to plan the process, so that the desired face side of the joined material always matches -- this is particularly true if the good side grain of the joined pieces must be closely matched. If you have long resulting stock, remember the pieces must be tightly clamped as the glue sets.

A good bit that I do not use.
This bit is much less useful to me than I imagined before I purchased it. I find it is much easier and more satisfactory to make finger joints for glue joints. Yonico quality is generally high and this bit is well made. It's just that finger joints are so easy to make on a table saw and when both boards to be joined are jointed together, they fit each other prefectly.

Makes a nice, tight fitting joint
Make sure this bit matches the thickness of the stock that you want to join. It works well with 1" to 1-1/4" actual thickness stock, but not very will with your standard 3/4" thick stock. Makes a nice, tight fitting joint. Besides being strong and presenting a lot of glue surface, I think the fingers also look nice when viewed from the end grain.

Makes short pieces into long pieces.
I got to use this the day after it arrived. It works great. The joint fits nice and tight. I did have to mess with getting the second piece lined up, but that was my issue and had nothing to do with the bit. It is a great value.

It worked OK for what I wanted to do. ...
It worked OK for what I wanted to do. However, I had to use a clamp to get the parts to fit together. They fit a little too tight, which gives too much squeeze out.

works great!
I had a little trouble getting the pieces to match perfectly until I stacked them on top of each other and then I got a perfectly matched level pairing.

... replacment to the one I had which became too dull to use
I just received this product as a replacment to the one I had which became too dull to use. I put it in my router, turned it on and the thing started wobbeling like it was off center, before I could even shut the router off, the shaft bent, it made contact with the router table and destroyed the table, the collar on my router and threw pieces of the table at me. Now this is not the first time I have used a router nor a finger jointer bit so it was not a case of not being installed correctly, the bit had to be off center or out of ballance and as soon as it came up to speed it self destructed. as you can see in the pic. i never even got a piece of lumber in the thing before it destroyed itself, my table and the router.

Better than some of the expensive bits I've used
I have used this bit a lot since I got it. It is a better design than some of those other designs I have seen. The fingers do match up very tightly. I had to use force to completely mesh the fingers together on my project.

Works fine.
Well made but NOT reversible. Cutter does not come off. Just raise or lower by width of one finger for second cut. Works fine.
