11/11/2019 Update: So I purchased my 3rd set of Vortex Defender flipcaps. I have a Razor HD Gen II 4.5-27x and two Viper PST Gen II on other rifles. So an interesting thing I noticed is that on the original covers I had to add zip ties around them because often times when I would open the cap it would start coming off the scope, which would be a huge pain and during a PRS match could impede you on a stage. On my new set of flip caps for my 5-25 PST Gen II, they clearly updated the design and material on these so that they no longer slip. As a matter of fact - they were reasonably annoying to get onto the scope and I tested them rigorously opening and closing them and there were no failures. It's nice to see companies listen and continually improve their products. *** Original Review *** Although these are not my absolute favorite scope caps, these are some of the best I've had on my rifles. They're reasonably rugged, low profile, stay in place, and they flip ALL the way back. I've put 400 rounds down range with my Razor HD II 4.5-27 with the Vortex Defender caps and had 0 issues. When I purchased my Viper PST Gen II 3-15 FFP I knew the Vortex Defender Flip Caps were a no brainer.

I have these on all my Vortex scopes and they fit well and are effective. I wish Vortex made some aluminum and higher quality versions though --especially ones for the objective end that would screw in to threaded scopes. The rubber on these that goes over the scope is a bit thick and and cheap looking, especially on Vortex's higher end scopes. Easy to put on (it helps to open the scope cover to you can get your fingers inside to help ease them on).

Tried the butler creek flex one, dont waste your time, just buy this. Very good retention system and stays closed.. fits great.

Bought it for my Hawke 44mm objective because the nice all metal screw in Hawke made objective cover can not be used with a killflash piece also made by Hawke. This plastic and rubber slip-on cover by Vortex is cheap and not nearly the same quality as Hawke, but it fit on my scope perfectly as I expected and it will function as intended.

These are great scope covers but once you put them on do not take them off it stretches out the rubber and I have lost numerous ones out in the woods I have to take mine off to put it into a rifle scabbard when I take horses into the woods and I am sick of wasting all that money on scoop covers that is your hiking through the woods after you put it back on and then ending up it's gone it fell off you don't know how the hell it fell off

If I could give more stars I would. Took a while to track down something that would be a perfect solution, and these are by far the best option I could find. I would highly recommend this product 100%. I needed to replace the front caps on my Bushnell Powerview 8-16x40 zoom binoculars, and I can only say boy do they fit like a glove. Extremely well made and solid as a rock. I couldn’t be more happy. For scale and measurement, the outer diameter of the fount objective housing is 50.13 mm on the Bushnells and these 0-40 (48-53 mm) couldn’t fit any better than I had hoped for, with zero visual obstruction once installed. Fantastic product
