CrystalClear AlgaeOff - String Algae Remover - 2.5 pounds treats up to 1,000 Square Feet

Had a bad string algae problem in my pond last month. It took two tries. My fish were fine. I stopped the waterfall and sprinkled the fix on and let it sit about half an hour. It foamed green goop. I scraped it off of the rocks and hosed it down. Started the waterfall back up. Voila!

This stuff really works to take care of my string and scummy algae. Just keep lots of aeration running and in a couple of days you have clean clear water. Follow directions and fish and frogs are not bothered. The small particles of algae that make the water cloudy looking are also gone. In our northern climate it lasts for a couple of weeks in really hot streaks and longer when its not so hot.

For the first time in 12 years I had a large growth of heavy, string type algae on my concrete boat ramp into our lake. I tried scraping it off with a flat, metal shovel as well as a stiff, hard bristled push broom. It was a total and frustrating mess, and did not work."Algae Off" was a $20+ gamble for a rather small , 2.5 pound canister, approximately one quart. The label indicates it will treat up to 1,000 square feet. My area of concern was less than 200 square feet. It took 3 separate treatments , following the directions, to have any success. I pretty much used all 2.5 pounds of Algae Off to rid the String Algae. That being said, I think the manufacturer needs to explain a bit more in-depth how much of this rather expensive product is actually needed. Other than cost and amount of product actually needed, I think it works and it definitely saved me a ton of work. Claims to be safe for fish, but is a corrosive to humans and animals.

This item says it’s safe around fish however, once I received the product the label says it’s not safe for birds, bees and for pets to drink. Our pond has many bees, birds and pets that drink from it. The description on Amazon is misleading and product can’t be returned!

Very effective for string algae

Best product I have ever used to control string algae. I followed the directions and the algae was floating up and off of rocks and waterfall.

We never read in the instructions that you have to scrub the rocks and walls, after application, to remove the dead algae.Fortunately our garden pond isn’t huge and we are able to rig a brush to aid in that process.The water is very murky even running an external filter along with the regular submerged pump/filter.They were quick to respond when I addressed these issues with them and they told us we needed to remove the dead algae. They also suggest another product to use.After 3 applications, numerous scrubbing and 2 pumps with filters running 24 hours, we now have a Crystal Clear pond.
