Genetian violet stains purple very badly when used straight. Does this?

You're right, straight gentian violet stains everything it touches, including your skin. The violet is diluted in Doctor Beasley's, but I notice it can stain porous surfaces like clothing or latex paint. It rinses out of tubs, sinks and countertops, although if they're dirty, it will stick to the dirt. I recommend wearing old clothes and using an old towel to catch spray when the dog shakes their head. If weather permits, apply outdoors.

Does this treat mites?

Thank you for your question. No, Doctor Beasley's is not an ear mite treatment.

No, it doesn't hurt the dog. The ingredients soothe the ear, unless thetr are open wounds or cuts, in which case anything placed in the area, water, alcohol, aloe vera, may sting briefly.

Day 3 found some gritty discharge? Or is it something in the product? He's had problems for years are looking better, smelling no oder, in 3 days.

The boric acid in the product has a very fine, slightly gritty quality to it, so that could be what you've noticed. We're glad it's been working for you!
