Pixel 5 is a fantastic phone! Highly recommended!
The Pixel 5 is excellent. Anyone worried about the "midrange" 765G chip shouldn't be. The phone is as snappy and responsive as any other flagship phone. I've always used flagships with the highest end Snapdragon 8xx chip and I genuinely don't notice a difference in performance with this phone. Perhaps if you had two phones side by side you could see the difference but in day to day use, you can't tell this phone is using a midrange processor. The Google software experience makes this the smoothest Android phone I've ever used. Using a midrange chip and keeping the screen at 90hz does wonders for battery life. I'm averaging 8 hours of screen on time and reaching the end of most days with 50%+ battery. I'm quite amazed. This is a two day phone battery for me. Camera quality is excellent as you would expect from Pixel. The photos and contrasty, punchy, and sharp. I still think the Pixel takes the best looking photos. It's close and the competition is catching up but you can't beat this phone for photo quality consistency. The screen is good too. An OLED panel which in my eyes looks as good as any other flagship phone on the market. Gets really dim and brightness outside is okay too. I should mention that the haptics are also good. Slightly different to Pixel 3 and not as good as iPhone haptics but still a cut above other Android phones. There aren't many negatives with this phone. The speaker quality could be better but it's loud enough and perfectly usable for watching YouTube and listening to Spotify occasionally. Yes the lack of face unlock is technically a downgrade from Pixel 4 but when you're using a facemask or covering a fingerprint reader is far more consistent and also very quick! It's a shame but you also lose Active Edge (which I personally was a big fan of), but I guess that's not unexpected given the lower price. All in all, Pixel 5 checks all the boxes for a great phone. Stellar performance, great battery life, expectedly amazing camera, screen quality, price. Wireless charging and IP68 certification are nice to have too, unlike some phones (I'm looking at you OnePlus Nord/8T). Pixel 5 shows that you don't need to pay £1000+ for a flagship phone. What you're paying for with those more expensive phones is a higher tier processor that makes no difference to day to day use, more cameras (two cameras is perfectly fine, quantity does not equal quality), potentially larger, higher resolution 120hz display. Are those worth the several hundred pound premium over phones like the Pixel 5? I personally don't think so. I think Google has nailed it this year with the price point and the features!

Probably the perfect phone.
After using a Pixel 3a for some time, my phone provider offered me a good deal on an upgrade to a Samsung S20 FE. Despite the fact I had tried Samsungs years ago and hated them (due to the terrible OS and bloatware) I thought that things may have changed - I was wrong. The Samsung operating system adds unnecessary confusion and undermines a lot of the functions of stock Android replacing them with worse Samsung versions. It is a nightmare. When the buttons started falling off the Samsung (yes, really) I decided that enough was enough and bought my current Pixel 5 - and what a breath of fresh air it has been. This phone, despite being a similar price to the Samsung, is a much better built device. The main body has a lovely satin finish that is soft to the touch while remaining grippy and fingerprint-free. The buttons are solid and tactile, and the fingerprint sensor works every single time (a big improvement on Pixel 3a). Additionally, the size is just about perfect for me - not ridiculously oversized as seems to have become the fashion. Most importantly, the OS works exactly the way you want it to, with zero bloat. The phone is fast and has not frozen or stuttered on me once. The screen is also bright and looks good to my eyes. Battery life is more than sufficient, on par with the S20 FE certainly. I'm not a photographer by any means and have found the cameras to be great. If you ask me, this is the best phone on the market for non-silly money. Ignore whatever the 'pro' reviewers saw: Samsung quality and software still leave an awful lot to be desired. The Pixel 5 is a phone that is everything you want it to be: it feels good in the hand, and provides a slick and smooth user experience. For me that makes it the best phone phone you can buy, and relative to the cost of other top-end phones it's also excellent value for money.

For me, it ticks every box as the perfect phone!
One person's perfection is another's abject failure. But the Pixel 5 is perfect for me and I'll quickly tell you why in case you have the same requirements. The size is perfect. You can use the phone one-handed with ease, but it is big enough to watch films. It slips into any pocket and is the perfect weight. My build quality is perfect. It feels like you could hammer in nails with this thing. The screen is bright, sharp and clear. It has a 90hz refresh rate, so handling is buttery smooth. It is 5G, aluminium and waterproof. Security updates every month. OS updates guaranteed for at least the next three years. It still has the best camera of any phone, coupled with loads of RAM and enough power to make it quick and smooth in operation. There are lots of Pixel exclusives, like crash alerts and live captions on video. And now it has an all day battery, as well. It is both simple and beautiful. Look at those symmetrical bezels! Those are my reasons, but they may not resonate with you. But I'm still going with a 100% recommend, because this thing is perfect from where I'm sitting. This is a truly great phone!

Minimally marvellous
I originally gave the Pixel 5 a bad review because I thought it had a manufacturing defect from the box. It turns out I was wrong about that and so I've decided to keep it. It's a beautiful phone with a unique, weighty feel in the hand. The rear texture is hard to describe. It's almost like holding a smooth, slightly porous pebble. It's not a soft touch texture like that on the 4a but it's definitely grippy. The 90hz display is silky smooth and the overall performance (although not a flagship processor) is great. I don't need to say anything about the camera, quality there is a given. Battery life so far seems pretty good. I've managed 8 hours screen on time on a couple of days. Haptics are top notch, comparable to the 4a and 3a and definitely more punchy than the Pixel 3. Overall I'm loving it. It's a stripped back, simple Android experience, with no unnecessary features or flair tied up in a solid, minimal design. If you are lucky enough to be able to get hold of one from Amazon, then go for it.

Great phone for its price.
I've been a pixel user in the past, however recently have optdled for Samsung and oneplus. I must say this Pixel 5 ticks all the boxes for the price point. The build quality is great, the metal back feels nice to the touch and differentiates it from the competition. I'm a huge fan of the bezels, having an equal size bezel all the way around is a really nice viewing experience. I love the wireless charging and the huge battery. At 4080 maH, it can easily do a full day of general usage with battery to spare. Camera wise, it definitely holds its own - as its well known, Google opt for post processing to improve the images which from my experience, gives great looking photos which represent the true images closest. Overall, I'd highly recommend this phone. The only downside is that Google don't put a screen protector on the phone out of the box. I've had to buy a 3rd party one which never gives the same finish as factory standard ones.

Top notch quality
Thought I should write a brief review that initially didn't consider the price paid (as that will change over time). - phone is fast - all talk of midrange processor will only be relevant in many, many months time. For now no lag - camera is fantastic - would i like a telephoto lens too? Yes, but consider that even at full price this phone is cheaper in UK than most of competition - is construction quality high? Yes - the back feels like rough polished metal. Sturdy, and non-slippery (though a case would improve this further). - battery life is v impressive. Charge overnight, use all day, battery to spare at bedtime - peace of mind. Google will support this phone for 2+ years. Software and security updates will follow too. Is it best value for money? I don't know as I don't have other phones to compare. Is this a step up that allows you to do all you need to do with a phone in 2020? For sure.

The best android experience!
Is literally the best android experience! It's a little beast, no lag at all, astonishing battery life, you can easily go through a day and still have a lot of juice when you get home, of course the fastest updates in the game since it's a Google product. The screen is vibrant and very bright, the camera is the best you can find up to date! The only downside is the sound, it has stereo speakers but the top is an under display one and not so loud like the bottom. Black is awesome, is not boring as a lot of youtubers saying, it black and has very tiny greyish dots. Build quality is awesome! It doesn't feel cheap at all although Google used recycled aluminum body coated with the "plastic" skin.

Great till it died
This was a really good phone with excellent speed nice display and very very good battery life, that is until one day it died failed to come back on, from then you could not power on on or reset it or connect it to the USB cable to reset it, it failed to charge. Then leaving it on charge for 8 hours it briefly came back to life but then refused to charge the battery. I no longer own my Pixel 5 and would not buy or consider another one, Android the operating system and the phone manufacturers have far too many defects that I keep finding, Android has become a very buggy and unreliable ecosystem

The charger plug is American standard!
Although I requested my shipment from UAE to KSA the packaging was very weak the box was damaged. The phone look fine so far but I'm not sure. There was dust inside the phone, even after I took the plastic layer off the screen. The plug is American too which isn't compatible with plugs standards here in Saudi, so I have to use an adapter. The shipment also stayed 5 days in the stupid customs.

Extreme regret
The shop is called "NGP Australia" and yet I am informed this is an international item with no warranty. Battery charger faulty, fiddly and hard to get a full charge but I am refused a replacement. It is an international plug and this is not in the product description, beware. Phone is dying in 1/2 day after a little over 2 months of use. I feel deceited by poor description of the item on main page. Extreme regret.
