This is a great deal, is the original hat from the movie, I am very satisfied. Quality is top notch. Fits better in small heads.

This hat is pretty cool. I'm using it for decoration but I'm sure it works well for what is intended for, too. Arrived early and it's pretty big. Looks great!

Good quality

I really like this sorting hat, but it's definitely not adult sized. It sits on top of my head, but definitely doesn't fit the way it should. With a breeze or a wobble of the head, it falls off. But other than that, this is a great buy. The face isn't super well defined, but it's definitely recognizable. If anything more had been done to make the face stand out, I imagine it would seem a lot less realistic as a hat. It flops over, but stuffing it with tissue or socks is enough to fix that. The material used for the brim of the hat is rather thin, but there is a wire sewn into the outside edge that helps it maintain its shape (which allows you to get just the look you're going for). There's a pocket so you can move the mouth, but it's tiny and not that effective. Ultimately, I'm sad that this doesn't fit well, but it's going to spend the vast majority of its time on a shelf next to the rest of my Harry Potter merch, so I'm not that concerned. If you want this as a collectible or for a young child, this is perfect. If you're an adult and would like to wear this for cosplay or something like that, you may need to figure something out using clips and such to make this work. Regardless of the fit, I think this is a great product for the price (twenty five dollars). I'm happy with this purchase.

I had the talking sorting hat, but wanted a lighter one to suspend from the ceiling. This one was one of the most affordable options and it actually looks pretty good. Its been shoved into storage boxes several times, but has held up well.

We bought this for our sons' Harry Potter themed birthday party. They both play with it profusely even today. It was used for the sorting when all the children had arrived. We put my cellphone in the hat, and I used speaker phone from the other room. I would start by saying something like "Hmmm, this one is hard..." or "Let me see, which house do you belong...", you know, Sorting Hat stuff. Then we had the kids pick a cup with ice, in which I had dried a few drops of house colors in each. We filled each kids cup with Sprite, and I would yell out "HOUSE GRIFFENDOR!!!" or whatever. This is how we broke the kids into smaller groups for the later games (Quiditch, Potions, etc). The hat worked PERFECTLY. Inside the rim and cap part are wires that you can use to shape the hat a bit. It also has a mouth that you can use as a puppet, if you felt so included. The quality of the hat was far better than I had expected. I couldn't have imagined the party without it.
