Travelpro Platinum Magna 2 | 22-Inch Express Rollaboard (Olive)

Excellent bag. I picked this one because of the wheels. We had a trip planned for Rome & Florence and I knew the sidewalks there were rough and they didn't let me down. The bag traversed through some pretty rough roads and cobblestone, something I didn't trust to a spinner although I did see a lot of other people using them. Be aware though most of those people were dragging the bag on the canvas basically because the wheels are such a small profile that once you lean the bag so far, well geometry ya know.Average size guy here, I was able to fit 4 pairs of jeans, 8 pairs of boxers, 9 pairs of socks, 14 shirts (long and shirt sleeve T's), half dozen packs of 3oz cashews and my toiletries. That was the packing for the trip there, was a good amount of room left, I hadn't even used the lid storage. Bag weighed 22 lbs when finished packing. Delta allowed it from DAL to ATL and from ATL to AMS. From there it was Air France from AMS to CDG and CDG to FLR. Air France didn't say anything about the size of the bag but it was tight fitting it into the overheads.Trip back I had souvenirs and liquids greater than 3.4 oz so I knew we were going to check. I unzipped the expansion compartment and it surprisingly made a huge difference. Our first flight leaving FLR was through KLM and they didn't play around. I watched them check every single bag for size and weight, if it didn't comfortable fit in the box it was checked. I didn't attempt to carry on because of liquids. Bag handled the ride back to DAL like a champ, no damage at all.Excellent bag, held 7 days of clothes easily, great wheels and well built. The compression straps inside help a lot. Handle is comfortable and I did use the different heights at times depending on speed of walking and congestion of area. Highly recommend but it is a gamble if you're trying to use it on international airlines . I was able to get it for $140 and consider this a 5 star purchase.

I’m so happy with this purchase. Moderate business traveler here (50-75k miles/year, 2-3 trips/month) and I’m what I like to call a “versatile” traveler. Meaning: I bring way more stuff than I need cause I never know what my mood is going to be once I get there. In this super trooper of a carry-on that I got less than 24 hours ago I was able to fit all of this:-11 dress shirts (6 long sleeve, 2 short sleeve, 3 collarless long sleeve)-6 pairs of pants (3 jeans, 3 slacks)-4 pairs of shorts (2 casual, 1 gym, 1 swim)-7 teeshirts/undershirts-4 pairs of underwear-4 pairs of socks-3 PAIRS OF SHOES, size 10 (dress, boat, gym)-Toothpaste-Truth brush-Hair and beard balms for the sexy beard- Moisturizer (real men moisturize...how do you think I got this sexy beard?)I was able to fit all of this without using the 2” expansion (I.e. I had to use the expansion to get ‘er closed, but was able to further compress it by zipping the expansion zipper back up)Were my clothes wrinkled? Absolutely. That’s why hotels have irons. Did I have to sit on it to get it closed? Perhaps. But do I have everything I wanted without having to check my bag? Absolutely! (Flew United, 737-900, with the old overhead, with approximately 0.05 cm of clearance to go - but she fit like a glove.)If you’re looking for a mid - high capacity carry-on that’s somewhat stylish, not cheaply made, and has a few tricks up its sleeve, stop looking and “add this to cart.”P.s. the extendable handle DID get jammed as others have indicated (I mean this thing was fully loaded) but only once, and it just took a little muscle to get it up.P.p.s don’t judge me for my inability to decide what to wear for a 4 day trip :)

This is the best bag that I have ever owned and I have had quite a few over 40+ years of traveling. Very light but sturdy, and easy to maneuver. The only thing that I had to get used to (when lightly loaded) is the interior tie down straps. They work great and have integrated pockets, but will not compress flat against the bottom for a lightly loaded bag. This is normally not a problem for business travel, but maybe for someone making a day trip to visit a relative with not much in the bag. The bag is slightly smaller than my existing carry-on; however I found out after further checking that the current one is 'technically' too large per the current USA carry-on restrictions even though I have never had a problem except in Europe and Asia which can have much more limited size restrictions depending on the airline and the class that you are traveling in. I have seen other reviews that stated that the bag does not meet the current USA restrictions, but have found no evidence for this. However, if you unzip the expansion zipper and stuff it full, you may exceed the depth restriction.
