Dell Inspiron i3847-2310BK Desktop

So disclaimer, I have heavy modified this pc. Sadly though, I have found the existing hardware to be absolutely substandard. First of all it comes with a laughable amount of ram and processor power. A lenovo desktop for $50 less comes with 2x as much ram and a i5 processor (one tier above this i3).The worst part about this computer is the crappy motherboard, which is horrifically finnicky. I opened up the case once to get a drive rack I left in there. I did not adjust any of the internal electrical components, and somehow I caused the computer to have a fatal operating system error. The worst part is that this happend a second time. I had to re-install the entire OS. Somehow I bumped some connector to the motherboard and the computer flipped out. The second time, Dell's recovery process corrupted my external backup and I lost all data from the previous 3 months.

I have been looking to upgrade my computer for a while now and finally found one that got my attention. It is the perfect combination of low price and powerful performance! Though it could perhaps be considered big and bulky, it is nice in size, allowing me to bring over other parts from my previous computer with ease. The ability to expand added to its value for me. Also, it came preloaded with some software I like from Cyber Link, and of course the operating system Windows 8.1, which I have no problem with.

Seems to be ok. Crashes on the internet quite often but that could be my wifi (I'm in a rural area) or just IE acting up. Other than that it's fine. I don't like Windows 8 though if I had it to do over I'd find a desktop without that operating system.

There's not too much to say about this computer. It's cheap and it works well. It's a full-size case, so there's some space to upgrade it. I put in an EVGA GT 730 graphics card, which works great. Overall, I am happy with the purchase.

What'd I pay for this tiger, $300? Heckuva deal! It's WAY fast for the price. I built it from scratch with TONS of great software and customized it to pieces, all in only two evenings. I waited SIX MONTHS to do this after purchasing because I was SO tired of the AGONY of building a new computer. Surprise, surprise ... this baby was a SNAP! Who needs ANYTHING faster unless you're a gamer or hacker?

A reliable Dell product for the money. Only drawback was some difficulty transferring my backup disc to the new windows 8.If I had to do it again, I would have saved some money and got another Windows 7.

This is a great computer for your everyday needs. If you're doing email, web surfing and various other light tasks, this computer is more than adequate. If you're looking for a high end gaming or graphics machine, then keep on looking. For the masses, this unit will do very nicely. It's fast, has plenty of HD space and you can't beat the price.

This computer came with Win 8.1 preinstalled but there is no license sticker on the computer, box or on anything that came with the system. I told them I needed the windows code if I had to reinstall, they told me to call Microsoft. Terrible customer service!The computer is not working correctly in the first place. It keeps trying to install updates and says it can't install them and rolls the computer back. So not it is in this cycle that it wont come out of.I did call Microsoft and they told me the copy of Windows on the PC was not genuine and urged me to fill out a form so they could investigate the seller.I told the seller I wanted to return the computer and now they are giving me a hard time.Stay away from this computer and this seller.
