ProPlusGIDS-231405 Split Plastic Escutcheon, 1-1/2" Ips

The escutcheon is GREAT. The vendor...not so much.
This 1-1/2" IPS (iron pipe size) escutcheon is what you'll need for the trim for 1-1/2" PVC pipe. In my case, it was the drain pipe for my bathroom pedestal sink. The picture shows this piece, as well two 1/2" CTS escutcheons I bought from a different vendor, and reviewed elsewhere. The Proplus escutcheon rings really are the ideal solution, in my opinion. Some reviewers say they are flimsy and cheaply made. I guess maybe you could say that? But it's not like they're DOING anything except sitting there hiding a hole and being decorative! There are no moving parts to break, and they are certainly NOT going to rust like the originals. And they look a heck of a lot better than the metal, hinged, split-flange type of escutcheon. The key to using these is to split the plastic ring from the back with a sharp utility knife -- there's already a groove there for it.Which brings me to the vendor in question, HRD International Marketing Corp in Jacksonville FL. The 1-1/2" ring I received from them was an obvious return, and sent to me as new. The ring was already split... Not with a utility knife, but separated by hand, it looks to me -- and not nearly as neat as a utility knife split, as it flakes some of the chrome off the edge in the process. Also, the pic doesn't show it, but the part was scuffed from the previous install as well.I decided to keep the part, as the flaws are not really visible unless you're under the sink, looking up close. Regardless, the vendor offered up the part as new, and it wasn't.For the Proplus rings, you either pay a more expensive amount for the part that includes Prime shipping, or pay an inexpensive amount for the part with expensive shipping. Either way, it's not cheap. But there are very limited options out there, so what are you gonna do!?
