I gave this to an 8 year old girl, for Christmas......she loves it, she loves horses.

Illustrations and descriptions really show you the huge variety of horses, new and ancient, along with their life stages, varying gaits, colouring, strengths, and temperaments. There are photos, but the illustrations are the true delight: miniature views of people on horseback to show styles of riding and culture, and the much larger pictures of horses themselves, all exquisitely shown at the same scale. A great value and a no-brainer if you are interested in horses for any reason. The layout is crisp, coherent, and lovely. Highly recommended!

I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of this book, it's very detailed and organized and very heavy. What a fantastic deal and a must for anyone interested in horses.

This book has so many little know breeds that it is a fascinating read. Lots of line drawings and very good material. Thoroughly enjoying it for reference in my model horse hobby.
