SSAT 8 Reading & Verbal Elementary Level: + 20 hidden rules in verbal (Hackers) SSAT ELE 1 Edition

This is a really good SSAT prep book! Our child was helped tremendously by doing the exercises in this book. Questions are a bit on the harder side, but the author is extremely helpful! If you buy the book, there is an email address in the book that you get to contact the author directly and they respond almost immediately. You can ask for a vocabulary practice book with 1500+ words for free (at least that's true in our case).If you want to score high on SSAT, this is a must have book: having the right kind of prep book makes a day-and-night difference and I believe this is the right one.

I'm a language arts teacher who bought this book to help one of my 4th graders prepare for the entrance exam for private school. I've only used one Reading test and one Verbal, and I'm already disappointed by the number of errors I've found, many of which are grammatical. One question refers to a word on line 14 in a passage that only contains 11 lines. One of the answer choices in the Reading test says, "the mass of the Sun makes the Earth moving" and another answer choice for the same question says, "the Earth has life form". In the Verbal test, the synonym for "explore" is supposed to be "curiosity"; the words don't have the same meaning and aren't even the same part of speech. Many of the other questions in that section also include words that aren't true synonyms. I will not continue using this book, nor do I recommend it.

I bought this book to help my daughter in strengthening her verbal and reading, overall we think it's a good material in preparing SSAT. The book summarized the logic for the analogies&reading questions in a concise way and easy to understand. And we also like the practice test part, it has 8 full verbal and reading questions, the explain about the analogy and reading answers are very detailed. .

The verbal sessions are way too easy when compared to the other ones you usually can get from Amazon.The most serious problem is the horrible grammatical problems in the reading passages. Lots of sentences are missing capitalization and punctuation. Even though the explanation for the choices are very detailed (maybe even too detailed), I would not say this is a high quality test prep material.

I purchased this book to prepare my child for the 3rd grade SSAT. I found this book very helpful, especially the 20 hidden rules. There are plenty of practice questions with detailed explanations. Its clear that the author has a lot of experience writing and designing test questions. Definitely one of the better books available for the elementary level SSAT.

This book"s verbal question exercise is very good practice for SSAT for all students. The vocabulary of relationship between synonyms and analogies is also great help in learning usage and relationship for new vocabulary. The reading exercises with a paragraph read follow with question enhance students understanding of the passage read. i recommend highly to all students prepare for SSAT.

My first one star review. This practice book is a waste of time. Missing pages and answers. Verbal problems are none sense!

I purchased this book for my daughter and she absolutely loved it. The difficulty level is just right of the elementary level and very easy to follow. I would highly recommend for any child preparing for SSAT in the elementary level. A big THANKS to the author of the book.

A great book if you want to self study as all the questions come with a detailed explanation.

It’s really hard to find the SSAT book for elementary level. This one is very good. The tips for verbal are very useful. 2018 version is much upgraded from 2017. The author is so nice. He replied my email and gave me a lot of useful materials. He is awesome!
