Much better than a knife for me!
Always had trouble keeping my knife level as I was leveling my cakes so they would often be lopsided, this has solved that for me. Takes a second to figure out which method of use works best for you… for me, it's grabbing the sides, not the top handle, and pulling it back towards myself.

Works.
If the cake has a thick rubbery crust must start off with a knife. If used properly it otherwise works as intended. Do have to use with a sawing motion. Like that it is adjustable with relative ease.

Broke after 2 uses
Was fine while it lasted. Easy to adjust and use, but tugged at cakes more than a knife would. My biggest tip would be to use it starting in the middle of the cakes and do a gentle sawing motion toward the edges. Was going to use it on some cakes today but unfortunately I found it broken in my cupboard (it was unobstructed so it’s unclear how it broke). Probably won’t purchase again for this reason.

Took it out the box, cleaned + used it immediately
Had no problem leveling my 4 layer cake. You'll have to use more or less force depending on the density and moisture of your cake.

Cuts cake
This cuts cakes in half. Easy to use and grip is nice. Throw in dishwasher and easy to store.
