Good self-help book
As a new year began, I had one of the same goals I always have: to get in better shape. With that goal in mind, I wanted to read Growing Strong: Workouts, Devotions, and Recipes to Become Healthy from the Inside Out by Cambria Joy."When you nurture beauty of the spirit, you'll discover a joy that's lasting. This joy, in turn, inspires your pursuit of physical health. I'm excited to come alongside you and encourage this amazing happening in your life."Growing Strong is different from other devotional books because it includes recipes and workouts, in addition to the devotional content. Each chapter is only two to three pages, so it is easy to read at your own pace. You can read a chapter a day or several chapters a day. The goal of Growing Strong is to become motivated, become strong, and be transformed."Anytime we set a goal, we need to remember who satisfies. Not what satisfies. Who satisfies. Jesus Christ satisfies the longing soul."I got a lot out of the devotions. I felt there was so much wisdom in what Cambria was saying. I could not do the recipes because of dietary restrictions but they do look and sound good. I also did not do the workouts. I am more of a visual person, so while it is great that she includes them in the book, I would prefer to watch them and do them that way. While that is supposed to be the case, there is a website you can go to to watch the videos, but it is not working. That was quite disappointing to me. I sent Cambria a message to ask about it but didn't get a response.Overall, I recommend this devotional to anyone who wants to get stronger and healthier!

It's a beautiful book
I love that it has a bit of everything. It has workouts, calls to action, recipes, prayers, Bible quotes and beautiful pictures. Very easy to read.

Honoring God with your body and spirit!
I’ve been trying to figure out for several years now how to internalize and practically live out how to take care of my physical self, intertwining that care with spiritual health and not letting the pursuit of physical self-care become my idol. It’s hard for me to to find balance - like I’m either all in with dieting and exercise or not in at all.This is still a work in progress but I know that God is teaching me and I’m growing in this area. This book helped me to place the focus on the right things without abandoning physical health and seeing the importance of it through a spiritual lens. Here are a few of my favorite excerpts:“Jesus himself satisfies, and if we try to drink from any other waters in hopes of finding what’s exclusively found in Him alone, we will thirst again.”“I can tell you from personal experience that when I put my love for fitness above my love for Jesus, life gets pretty messy. Working out is a beautiful thing when our first love is Jesus because it allows us to serve our Lord rather than serve ourselves. When our bodies become our idols, we become earthly minded instead of heavenly minded. God calls us to have no other idols before Him. Our greatest devotion and affection should be for Jesus.”“My version of being healthy was to avoid cupcakes like the plague and put in a lot of exercise hours. Here’s the simple truth: God looks at the heart. And it is the condition of our spiritual heart that measures our health, well-being, and wholeness.”So if you struggle with this as well, check out this book! It’s easy to read, short chapters so you can read just a little every day, and is filled with great nuggets of truth about taking care of your whole being - honoring God with your body and spirit.

Inspiring!

10/10 Highly recommend
I was in a rut of needing some encouragement and self-development. Been cycling through a lot of negative thoughts with no escape. This book cuts to the soul with real talk, practical applications and helpful tips from what feels like a friend. I appreciate the time she took to write and share her walk. I was also pleasantly surprised to see the spiritual overlay. I read while walking on the treadmill in the morning. Great for busy moms being it’s broken down in small bite sized sections. Would recommend for teenage girls to women of all ages.

COULD NOT BE MORE EXCITED TO READ
So excited to start digging into this book! It randomly came up as an Amazon suggestion for me based on some other books I was looking at (which I didn’t end up buying cuz I got this one instead). So I decided to check out who Cambria is and whether or not this would be a good fit for me. I spent the next couple of hours listening to some of her YouTube videos and exploring her website, and discovered that she has provided something that I have been looking for for YEARS. I love how she combines our physical health as an outpouring of our spiritual health and love for God. She has such a beautiful heart and compassion for her community/followers. SO happy God brought her into my life.

Inspiring and beautiful book
This is a beautiful book written by an inspiring woman. It kept up with Cambria for years and she has always been someone I turn to when I need to restart and refocus my goals. This book is filled with pretty pictures, wise words, recipes and workouts.There are 48 chapters that I plan on breaking down to 1 a day. The chapters are short and right to the point. I’ve already been incorporating the arm toning exercises into my routine and I’m excited to try the recipes.I love how Cambria ties physical and spiritual health together. It makes so much sense! Perfect book to begin the year. Great for any Christian woman looking to get her spark back.

Refreshing.
This book made me cry every step of reading it because I felt it right through my heart. I realised how far astray I have been from God, my toxic relationship with food and my never ending search for healing with a muddled mindset. Thank you so much, Cambria. I let go of my worries and let God take over them from this point onwards. I'm going to lean on HIM and trust his plans for me.

This book is a MUST READ! Cambria brings so much love and light into her work and this book showcases that tremendously! If you need some love, food, workouts and a little sprinkle of Jesus to make it all come together, this is the book for you!
