Strike out "Automatic"
I started roasting coffee years ago, progressing from the cowboy method of holding a moving pan over a cooktop, to a popcorn popper, a hot air professional/home roaster and now this. Like everything in life, your rewards come from diligent attention to preparation! Having a grounded experience with roasting coffee, I believe the important criteria is whether the roaster can get hot enough to roast and is there a fast cool off when roasting is done. So this is how I use this machine, applicable to using it in the basement or outside in 25F temperatures; the time taken is about the same. The most important thing is recognizing the first "pop" and very soon after, the second round of popping which consists of rapid pops, then turning the temperature dial to off while still having the blade moving the beans as the pan is still very hot and roasting continues for at least a minute or so thereafter (no burnt beans). Then quickly transferring the beans to a large cold metal pan for rapid cooling. The second round of "popping" is very important as within a space of less than 1 minute after it starts, you will rapidly move from a standard roast to full to French roast. When you turn that temperature dial off (but keep the blades moving) is a matter of experience with the type of bean you're using (country of origin, processing, decaf, etc.) and practice. The photos above are the first 3 batches I roasted tonight. My settings are based on setting the roaster to 240 degrees, about 8oz of beans, and setting the timer to 15mins; the first round of "popping" starts around 8mins, second round at about 10-11mins, and the pictures show three roasts at 20secs, 40secs, & 50secs after the start of the rapid popping in the second round. This roaster is definite keeper as it can roast a lot of beans in a very short time span, yielding wonderful results (enjoying decaf as I type). Wait at leas t an hour after the roast to start using beans. Beans stay fresh for the first week without the need for refrigeration. Enjoy!

Excellent value for this price, 3.5 years and still satisfied
I've been using this to roast coffee (from Sweet Maria's) since January 2023. It's a piece of cake, makes excellent coffee, and allows me to have extremely fresh beans for the espresso machine. The only thing I would change is making it bigger. Can only roast 350-450 grams of coffee per batch...but for personal use it's just fine! Takes me about 20 minutes per batch, and I'll usually roast 3 batches at a time. No need to clean the machine between roasts...just clean it once after you're done with each batch.

Works as described, but not for a full 1 lb
If you are familiar with coffee roasting this is pretty easy to use. The stirring motor will spin both directions, just stopping it will make it go clockwise. If going counter clockwise it will not roast evenly.

SAVE YOUR TIME - GOOD FOR 6 ROASTS *IF* YOU'RE LUCKY, THEN IT BURNS OUT -- TWO UNITS NEVER AGAIN
Bought this in January '25, it's now June 19, I've used this maybe 6 times. Now it doesn't work, it no longer gets hot enough to actually roast the beans. So I figure this cost me $21for each roast, what a deal, right? Before it bit the dust it was actually a decent machine and was easy to use and roasted good coffee. Against my better judgement, I bought another, thinking the first one was a fluke. NOPE, as if right on cue, during roast #6 I start wondering why it's taking forever to crack..JUST LIKE LAST TIME.

The most balanced option.
It is still a design in progress, but it is so close to doing a flawless job that I give it 5 stars. The optimal load is 350 - 400 grams. When roasting this quantity, I found that it does a very regular job. With his load, It does an alternated rotation switching at intervals between clockwise to counterclockwise. The roast I get is perfect. It takes around 35 minutes to reach a medium-dark roast. Note 1: The very first time, I did not want to load the roaster using the minimum 300 grams advised in the manual (too much coffee for testing the product). So I loaded only 100 grams; it was an error; the minimum load is a must. Note 2: The rod looks unbalanced (one side is closer to the roasting base than the other side). I think It is part of the design and intended to optimize the scrambling of grains during the roasting evenly; do not fix it.

Not really what I expected
This is not what I expected.... At my end - this is a bigger size that I expected. it is good for family size, quite big for 1-2 people. Not so good things: - NO INSTRUCTION BOOK. Beside the picture on Amazon site, no instructions what so ever on how to use the device, or a starting point on roasting 🤬. - It took 20 min at the highest temperature, around 400F, to make popcorn 🙄. - I used a moist towel to clean the interior. I'm not sure that the lid is dishwasher safe, so manual cleaning as well. - After cleaning I found water between handle and lid 🙁 - Mixer stopped twice during use. After one minute I jiggle it and start moving again. As there is no instruction book, or website I do not know if mixer stopping is normal or not. The beans/seeds/etc. can get burned. - TIMER DOES NOT STOP THE MIXER. The timer stopped the temperature control but not the mixer. It made sense to me that the mixer will continue spinning the seeds until they cool down. Half hour later the seeds were cold but the mixer was still going. No instruction book so I do not know if this is normal or not. Good things: - I made popcorn and roasted sunflower seeds. The results were very good. See video. Packaging - it looks good from outside, inside I found some broken parts...not known what it is. See picture. Overall - I'll keep the device, but it is a lot to experiment and learn. Base on my experience I would not recommend to leave the device unattended during roasting and cooling process. I hope that helps 😃.

Coffee Roaster
This is definitely my favorite way to roast coffee. I have good control of the heat, bean and when I’m ready to remove. I have gotten plenty of compliments on the coffee. Easy to clean. Great value for the price. It has lasted through several roasts without fail.

Not worth the money
Did not perform as advertised. Tumbled nuts out, burned nuts, did not leave them with a roasted flavor. Not worth the money for the time it took.

Buena
