I first got my bear spray and always kept it in my backpack, yet when closing in risky areas is best to have it handy. As soon as I bought this holster I realized this is the only way to carry a defense tool, it keeps it tight and secure yet it takes me a second to grab the spray if needed. 10 / 10 would recommend

This feels well-made and is just the right amount of tension to hold the 9.2oz canister from falling out accidentally, while still allowing you to pull it out smoothly and rapidly when you need to. I'll update this review if anything changes as I put more use on this.

I use this for work as a utility locator . Holds a can of paint very well , not in the way when not needed

Holds the canister tight via elastic built into to holster. Has a nice adjustable flat loop for belt.

I wear my bear spray everywhere I go when I'm leaving the quarters of my home people see it and I am unbothered I use it for beers in the woods along with bears in the city you just never know

This holster is the perfect size to use for the SABRE Frontiersman Bear Spray canister. When we were hiking in Glacier NP almost everyone had a holster and a canister of bear spray. Get this holster so you don't need to carry the bear spray canister while you are enjoying the hike.

Stays on and holds the can right. Not uncomfortable to walk with if you put it on your side. Well-made.

The holster sleeve is elastic and fits the 225-gram (7.9-ounce) bottle perfectly. Also, it has the back piece sewn on (as pictured) for carrying the bottle on my waist belt. The back piece of fabric is also elastic, making the carry rather comfortable even when sitting.

Just as advertised, it's an elastic front fabric holster that will even fit the big 10.2oz (290gr) canisters from Counter Assault. It's the same model as the belt holster, meaning you can still wear it on your belt if needed, but comes with a chest harness to carry it in a more accessible fashion. I don't have extensive time on it so I don't know how long it will last before the sticking comes apart, but from experience with similar holster, should last long enough not to be bothered about it. I really like it because it allowed me to mount my big 8-1/4" double edged blade Cold Steel OSS behind it, tip up, for quick draw from either hand no matter which position you end up in, in the unfortunate case that you have to resort to a knife against an animal on top of you. I carry it right in front of my heart, giving a slight extra protection against slashing from an animal. For those who carry, you still have plenty of room for a underarm handgun holster on either side. It's pretty hard for people not to notice you when wearing such a rig tho, so don't think you can achieve a concealed look with this chest holster if that's what you were looking for (even less with a 13" knife across your chest). For those wondering about comfort, I have a slim body and only 5'6", but I've been wearing the rig for about an hour walking around the house (to fine tune the straps and find out the sore spots) with the knife and full 10.2oz can and its quite tolerable. Someone with a little more meat on their bones probably wouldn't notice it. The whole rig can be slid offset (under my left arm in my case) and concealed when wearing a coat as well as keeping the knife handle out of your groin area when sitting down or driving, etc. I've tried rolling around with it in all directions on the carpet and to my satisfaction it stayed well in place and I was able to draw both the knife single handed (from either hand) and the can with both hands at all times, although you could pull the can out single handed if you struggle it out, as the elastic front fabric keep the magnum sized can pretty snug and the holster want to lift up with it for a few inches. Overall a good product that fits the jobs perfectly and allows for a good attachment point for your favorite sticking/combat/utility knife for when you'll need it most, at a very affordable price and surprisingly fast 2 days shipping. I hope I'll never get to use it, but I sure will be wearing it anytime I'm out in bear (and cougar) country.

As a bear spray holster this does the job and quite well at that. On the basis of being a functional and reasonable quality bear spray holster, it succeeds and at a good price. However, if you, like me, are here looking for a chest holster, please beware that even though this Amazon posting says "Chest Holster" and even shows a picture of a chest holster with the necessary harness and buckles, the product that Amazon delivers is in fact NOT a chest holster but a standard belt holster! I came here looking specifically for a chest holster for extensive backcountry use where I will be carrying a pack though very serious grizzly country. Just like guides in Alaska use chest holsters to carry their big-bore pistol of choice in bear country, chest holsters are simply the best design for bear spray carry and quick access, especially with a loaded pack. The holster stays on you even if you set your pack or tools down. I live and recreate in a part of British Columbia with more Grizzly bears than anywhere in north America outside of Alaska and the Yukon. If we leave the house the bear spray comes with us. It isn't optional. Chest holsters are the only way to go of you truly want rapid access regardless of your situation. Unless you do not have a pack on, hip or belt holsters do not work as well. Please understand that Sabre/Frontiersman makes a great product, both sprays and holsters, etc... I only knock one star off because Amazon sent me the wrong holster twice!!! And that was after the first time I requested that they verify that they were sending me the correct one. I was promised multiple times that it would be corrected and would not happen again. I read others reviews and noticed that other people had also received the wrong version. Low and behold, the replacement was identical. No chest harness/straps or buckles present at all! Just an empty holster with a belt loop! I am currently waiting while Amazon claims to be shipping me the correct one for the third time! After what happened here, I fully expect a thrice repeat and imagine I will have to order the silly thing from somewhere else. Whoever is filing orders has obviously never seen a bear spray holster in their lives or has no idea what they are looking for and doesn't realize there are two different versions of this item. If you are looking for a basic belt holster you will be very happy with the product. Until Amazon makes this right, I would recommend shopping for a different chest holster or looking at another retailer. If you want a really nice one that has multiple carry options, Mystery Ranch out of Bozeman Montana makes a fantastic molle and pals compatible holster. Costs $25 US, but can go on a belt, bino harness or other chest harness, or pretty much anywhere a strap or daisy chain resides. I'm tempted to go that route. UDAP and Counter Assault also make chest harnesses. Harder to find though. Hope this helps someone to avoid the same frustration as I have experienced with this otherwise simple product purchase... Being a safety item, you would think that they might give a small amount of extra care to ensuring people get the correct product. Oh, well. I guess not everyone lives, works, and plays in the thick of bear country... One thing to note, the holster does not have a retention strap of any kind. It is an elastic friction holster meant to be carried in the upright position. This improves draw speed, but somewhat limits your carry options. A strap could be readily added if concerned about it. Most of the time this is not even a problem. Update: Third holster has arrived and once again is just a belt holster. I have been through the ringer with Amazon on this and they have struck out three times! Picture attached of the last two ( I already sent back the first incorrect one). Amazon customer service does try, but there is a MAJOR problem here! I've looked in both holsters and no straps located inside either. I love Amazon for most things but this is definitely the biggest bungle I have experienced. I realize it isn't a high value item, but three failures to correct is pretty bad. Obviously, they don't realize that that their stock is incorrect and have completely failed to actually check what they have in stock! What more can I say? Further update: Drop to three stars because the product itself is great, but Amazon has completely failed to correct the problem and send me the correct holster. I've had it with being run in circles and being ignored. Amazon's customer service may by legendary, but no amount of rapid replacement with the exact same product that was incorrectly provided in the first place will ever make up for false advertising and complete and utter failure to correct the root problem three times in a row. Every time I was assured multiple times by all three agents I spoke with that it had been "elevated" to the highest level of importance and would not happen again. The attempt at customer service was admirable, but it seems that someone somewhere forgot to actually address the problem and physically check to ensure that they were actually providing good customer service. I have been a loyal Amazon customer for many years. It's really too bad they had to fail over such a seemingly simple and otherwise small item. I've spent thousands over the years on Amazon.com and Amazon.ca purchases. Phone calls , emails and chat sessions seem to do absolutely no good. I will be returning for a refund. Very unhappy with this purchase experience. I will also be contacting Sabre/Frontiersman to notify them of this situation. I'm sure they would not be happy to know that their otherwise excellent product is being handled in such a manner. If Amazon cared, they would do something to actually correct this issue and make sure that other customers don't have to experience this. Can't expect perfection, I am aware of that, but this is beyond ridiculous. I'm pretty sure I could keep this cycle going of return and replace many more times before somebody even acknowledges that there is a real problem here. In my line of work, this would not be tolerated at all. Perhaps I expect too much.... My advise is not to purchase this particular product from Amazon until further notice that the problem has been corrected. April 30, 2019 - One more note: I was contacted by Sabre and notified that they will be working with Amazon to correct the issue, whether with product description or inventory. They even offered to send me an actual chest holster for free. This is from the manufacturer, not Amazon! Amazon, has refunded me my purchase cost and told me I could keep the incorrectly sent holsters, also free of charge and assured me that they will correct the situation so further customers will not have to deal with the same frustration. Kudos to Amazon for trying. After this situation, I know that Amazon means well, but found it most reassuring that Sabre is going to be working with Amazon to correct the situation. Please know that Sabre/Frontiersman makes an outstanding product. It's just too bad that this mix up had to occur and to so many customers besides just myself. So, hopefully it will be corrected and you will soon be able to order an actual chest holster from Amazon. Hope this helps!

Didn't come with any instructions on how to wear so I don't even use the chest strap. Comes with carabiner and a separate belt clip and have been using that. The holster itself is great quality
