Celebrate diversity and peaceful multiracial interactions in these books! Just awesome!
I got all of these books for my classroom library. The author and illustrator tackle so many issues facing children today in a fun, comic way. With all the racism and injustice happening in our country right now, I am so thankful to see that the superhero is a Black girl and, in this book, is best friends with a White boy whom she teaches how to use his unexpected superpowers. I don't want to give the book away, but my students really love the Mia Mayhem series with their adventurous, light spirited, diverse stories told from the perspective and voice of a child superhero. They are drawn to the comic features of the books. I can't sing enough praises for Kara West and Leeza Hernandez for creating these "Can't Put It Down" books for children. I simply can't wait to get #11 in the series: Mia Mayhem Rides the Waves. If you're a teacher, this series is worth the investment for your classroom library. If you are a parent, Aunt, Uncle, grandparent, or guardian looking to teach children that not just white kids can be superheroes or are looking to diversify their reading world, you will not be disappointed in these books. They show healthy interracial friendships, families, and interactions, something children need to see on a daily basis in order to make this world a better place for them to live in.

Great books.
These are wonderful books for young readers. They’re very engaging and a lot of fun. Our daughter loved them from the very first book and we order every new book as they come out.I do wish they were a little bit longer, but I think the length of these fine for engaging young readers as the longer books tend to run on too long. It’s difficult to keep some kids engaged for 300 pages, but 130 pages feels like a good amount.Especially when they enjoy them enough to want to read them all and for 5 dollars a book, that’s a fair amount.

Bought the first volume at Mahogany bookstore and my kid whizzed through it! He loves the series and I’ve bought almost every book so far! Great for kids 6-9 age range.

Good book but too short
So...I bought my 7 yo daughter this series, which she loves. She was super excited to know that the 10th book would debut in Jan. So I surprised her & preordered it & it arrived the same day of the debut. Needless to say, my daughter was overjoyed, however although she really enjoyed the book, she read the whole book in like 40 mins. I know that she’s above her grade level in reading but finding books that are challenging enough & appropriate in content can be tricky. With that said she loves these books but I really wish the books were longer. She was a bit let down as well.
