I typed in both model # of dvd drive and dell laptop. got all kinds of results, but none specific or matching drive # or laptop #, hence my question.

It's best to take out your DVD/CD rom unit and find your model number and Make then search online for the exact same unit and order it. Refer to Youtube to show you how to take it out safely and order the replacement unit and install your new unit once it arrives. That's how I replaced my worn out unit and so far, so good. Good luck with your search.
