OverCast Awning

I will first tell you that this awning is great. I use it when I am camping and doing other things with my Honda Odyssey 2006 Minivan. For the price point you can not beat it. I will say a few things first. 1) This is a great awning, it is manual and hard to install with only one person but would be easy with two people 2) It is very easy to take down with one person (at least for me) but kind of hard to put up without any other person 3) Comes with tie down kit for awning 4) I have used it some, I will say I have enjoyed it very much, they do also sell a bug netting for this model which I got but have not tested, so far I have not found any other enclosures for this awning such as side walls. P.S. If you are going to buy this awning, I would suggest buying it from somewhere that gives free shipping, like Amazon, as I did because shipping this from REI would have been about the price of the awning itself ($150 or so)

Very study. Use it at the beach. Make sure you have enough bar width (measurements in the instructions). Used in high wind without a problem, if staked down. If no wind, dont need the stake kit. All parts are included. Easier than setting up my 10x10 shade. Collapses and rolls up to the bag. Zip the bag and go!

Cheaply made. Came with rips in the seam. Plastic pieces broke before taking it camping.

Got this about a month ago. I was debating between a few manufacturers but decided on Thule because I have the Thule EVO aero crossbars. Installation was pretty quick. The hardest part was placing the brackets on the crossbars and having the bracket covers not interfere with my roof basket. Set-up was also quick (after the few initial tries). It takes about 10 minutes to get it out of the cover, and out and up. The only thing is that I wish the hold down stakes that come with it was a little more substantial. Other than that, it a good awning as far as looks, set-up and cost.

Update 11/8 - Used on my off-road trip to the Gila Box NCA. Worked great, but the spikes/anchors are terrible. Throw them away and buy some heavy duty spikes. I used rocks and wrapped the guy ropes around the rocks. Worked great for a quick fix. Still recommend. ———— I purchased this for my 2015 Jeep Wrangler. I already had the aero bars and this a Thule product fit the rails perfectly. It’s a two-person install, but can be accomplished with one person (as I did). The mounts come with a locking cover. The cover is plastic added minor security, but finishes the installation with a professional look. As for the setup again easier with two, but I was able to set it up in about 15 mins. The tear down is a little more time consuming as you have to fold it up into the zippered cover. The poles may be the Achilles heel with the plastic ‘hinge’. These seem like they could fail easily. All in all perfect for what I wanted for some off-road camping, etc. The hardest decision was passenger side or driver side.

I like the security in knowing it "can't" be stolen. I like that the back plate is lockable preventing people from simply unscrewing it. There is a 10mm wrench that is included with the awning stakes. I didn't know that and used the small black tool that was included in the bag with the screws. If you're installing the awning by yourself I would highly recommend securing the awning with screws and bracket in the ground leaving just enough space to fit it into your crossbars vs trying to secure it directly on the crossbar. It's nice once everything is set up but it is tricky to take down by yourself since it is heavy. I plan on using the awning for camping and roadside fishing. Due to covid I havent been able to do either but it looks nice. Edit: 2/5/21 I would recommend having someone with you when folding the awning because I've had difficulties trying to put the cross bars away by myself.

The Thule overcast awning was super quick and easy to set up by myself. I went with this awning instead of the Yakama awning. Mounted directly into my T-Trak system on a VW GTI. Thule also has around the bar hardware included as well. The item weighs a bit more than I was expecting and is manual roll out only. Overall a great product that will be put to use with lots of camping this Spring/Summer/Fall.

Easy on, open and close. Great for car shows, beach trip's, and chilling anywhere!

Top quality well made product compared to others out there. Nice to have the locking covers for added security.

Double check the box to ensure the mounting hardware is included. Mine was missing, and the awning is very heavy and long, so an inconvenience to send back. Amazon offered a small credit not even half of what it would cost to purchase the mounting hardware.
