I rent an apartment that has cleanliness issues related to the freezer (an inability to actually clean it due to it's positioning). That said, this is a great device to maintain a closed environment that to keep the ice isolated from the general dirtiness of the freezer. My only qualm is the ice sometimes does not separate well within the contraption. It's not nearly enough of a problem for me to not use it.UPDATE: Ive had this product for about 3 months and used it weekly. On step 2 (flexing) today, the ice mold underneath the handle broke (pictured).Update to the update - I reached out to the seller after making this review with the update. They fully replaced the broken unit with a new one. It's now 2024 and the new unit has worked great for years!

I almost didn't try these because of the bad reviews, but I'm glad I did. I live in a city apartment with a tiny freezer that only has drawers, and getting an ice tray of still unfrozen water to behave without making a mess in its designated drawer was an unnecessary headache. I blame the person who designed my freezer, but it's still a challenge I face.I got these because they are a contained system and I love them. I can chuck it in my freezer hoping it lands flat-ish and it makes no mess while also producing very cool ice cubes. I don't use it for its purpose of discouraging the spread of germs, but I can see how that works because it's easy to not touch any ice if you choose not to.I find the quality to be sufficient and have had no issues with damage from force or use. I'm a small woman and I can crack it just fine, so if you're a burly fellow don't feel inclined to give it all you've got. Unplug the top to let in air as you pull the walls apart, beginning at the air-in end. The fill line is hard to see but still useful. When ice doesn't release I simply let it thaw on the counter upright and dump, wash, start again. They come apart easily and I find cleaning a breeze.Not sure how everyone isn't having an easy experience with these things, but I love them. I'd tip my hat to the designer if I could, I think this is a very smart product. I have 2 for rotating and might get a third. No more drippy ice tray headaches thanks to Icebreaker Pop.

I needed a tray that was compact and could fit in my almost-always-full-freezer and this certainly met those expectations. The plus was that I was able to make a small 1qt bag of ice in about a day (refilled and made ice 3x) The only con is that it is virtually impossible to see the fill line and the cubes are really small . The entire item is opaque! There is a marker for the fill line on the outside and where it meets on the inside. You can't see the water line from the outside and the hole is so small you can't really see if it's goes past the enclosure which stops right about how deep the lid goes in. (There is a connection inside from where the bottle meets the sides when collapsed)Overall, it is convenient for making ice and it worked really well standing up. I wish it made 24 ct or even 27 ct because the cubes are small.I didn't take it apart to clean. I just put soapy water inside and shook it very well and rinsed, so I can't comment on it if it leaks when taken apart and put back together. It is expensive for an ice tray but IMHO worth the price as a space saver. This tray is sturdy and built well. It took mashing it to loosen the ice cubes without discoloring or cracking. I will see if this hold up over time. Summer will be the real test as I will probably make about 4 bags to keep on hand. Will post an update review.UPDATE : 10/28/2022Haven't had any issues with this ice tray maker. I have made a ton of ice all summer and tray is still holding up and hasn't cracked. I have no idea why so many purchasers are having bad experiences using this tray. I do still stress-DO NOT DISMANTLE EVER. I have never took it apart and only clean it with hot soapy water and several rinses. I also place container on a towel and let it sit for about 3 minutes after I take it out the freezer before crushing and removing ice. But I do that with regular ice trays as well so I always have all the cubes pop out and the tray not crack. I filled it up (I did figure out how to tell when it's full since there is no outside indicator of a fill line) and set it upright in my freezer to set. It has never leaked and it has no exterior integrity issues. I'm buying another one since it's $15 bucks now. I will update again in the near future to let you know how it holds up. I purchased the water version. I still stand by my first review. This is a well made ice tray.

I bought this to make and store coffee ice cubes in my freezer for summer morning coffee. Pulling it apart was easy when it was empty. I took it apart and washed it, put it back together after it dried and filled it with coffee to or likely below the fill line. I pulled it out of the freezer Saturday morning with thoughts of perfectly formed coffee cubes swirling in my head. Only to find I COULD NOT pull it apart once I cracked it. I cracked it again, and again, and again. I STILL could not pull it apart. Thought, maybe I’m just weak. I asked my housemate for help, I nearly pulled her out of her chair and still it did not pull apart. I gave up, ran it under hot water to melt the cubes and throw them done the drain. Not worth the time, not worth the effort, and definitely NOT worth the $20 it cost. Nope, don’t be sold on this one. Besides it only makes a few very small cubes.
